I believe everyone gets the background check email, some stated that they got theirs later than others. I am unsure of what they deem "competitive" but on their website you will see what GPA is needed to be considered for admission. You will need to meet all 3 qualifications in order to be considered for admission- the minimum science GPA, minimum pre-requisite GPA, and the minimum TEAS scores.

Interesting! Lots of great information. Thank you! So am wondering though did that mean that you didn't meet the minimum 2.9 on your pre-requisites but they still did background check and waited until April to tell you..or just wasn't "competitive". I think my overall GPA meets minimum when I calculated it myself, and took it as a good sign that have gotten background check that I met all of the minimum standards so was wondering.

Let me go back through my email from last year and I can tell you what it said. I can't remember if I didn't meet the GPA requirements or if they had really competitive applicants. I want to say that I was initially denied but at the end of the semester my GPA changed and then was put on the alternate list. However, I am almost positive that they sent a background check email to everyone!

Last years scores were the most competitive out of all years previous to ours. If you are above or around our avaerge and have good TEAS scores. You are solid.

Thanks Charles! Yah I'm mainly worried about my overall because a lot of those classes I took back in "the day" when I was at UT and wasn't doing as well. I since went to get diagnosed and have add and knowing that and working with it has been a game changer for me! So my overall, from my own calculations at least, was 3.16. Hence the curiosity :). Hoping they see that they lower grades were from 14 or so years ago and take it into consideration :)

I'm so over waiting. And I just found out UThealth in Houston doesn't make their decision until June 15th. So if I get into TXST I'm going to accept but what do people do if their first choice is UThealth? Just accept TXST then back out?

Yeah if you accept TXST first but UT health ends up taking you, you can just decline TXST. But they won't give you your deposit back
