TWU Spring 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

crna is certified registered nurse anesthetist. programs typically require a couple of years of work experience in order to be eligible to apply. if it's something you think you would be interested in, now would be a good time to start doing your research so that you can gear yourself up for the next 6 or 7 years of your life.

financially, it is a very decision to make. nurse anesthetists in houston average between 140k-160k a year, according to salary.com, which is comparable to the salaries of doctors and lawyers.

a very smart decision to make*

i plan on one day becoming a crna as well! i'm glad there's someone going through the exact same thing right now!

that's awesome! i suspect there are a number of us with similar plans. i've found that a good amount of potential nurses have higher aspirations than people expect.

but first, we must get into nursing. roadblocks, roadblocks...

Do you guys see how many people are on the thread...24. only 5 are members. There are a lot of people who applied who I guess are too shy to join the thread. A lot more than I thought.

I posted this before, but it means more now that we are in crunch time:

I just looked at the Spring 2009 thread. Supposedly:

1. letters were mailed out on nov 3.

2. someone on there got an acceptance letter (thin envelope) in the mail on nov 4 to the Dallas campus. She had a 3.609 so with the .4 bump it was 4.0 GPA; NET was 64% for the reading comprehension.

3. Another acceptance letter on nov 4; GPA=3.9 and NET=81 for Dallas

4. someone else got a waitlisted email on nov 4. GPA=3.5 and NET=79 for Dallas and Houston

5. another person got a rejection letter on nov 5. GPA=3.7 and NET=67 for Dallas

6. acceptance letter on nov 5. GPA-3.93 and NET=70 for Dallas

I know there is more info about houston, but I havent read that far yet.

i just finished reading that thread a half hour ago. i don't think there's anything else that's helpful there... i did find the whole _me_/.4 bump thing awkward.

that thread only goes up to page 39, i think. i hope that princess wannabe girl got into a program.

Ipsy who did you take for path...can you offer some insight to the online class?

yes, princess wannabe did get in! after 3 or 4 times...I think on her 3rd attempt! that is determination.

thanks ali523! lol.

The instructor I had gave good assignments and reviews that were very helpful in preparing for the tests. Also, the quizzes on the disc that comes with the book was a good resource for preparing for the tests.

I just wish we knew FOR SURE how they are using the HESI scores.

So... the NET obviously counted when you look at #4 and #5. #5 was rejected with a HIGHER gpa and LOWER NET, while #4 was waitlisted with a LOWER gpa and HIGHER NET. The HESI has to count for something. I am so confused by what that asst dean told multiple people about how if you have a 75 on the HESI it doesn't matter how high you score.

Does anyone else feel like they are going to puke when they open the mailbox? I almost hurled in the street checking mine just now, and I pretty much knew there wouldn't be a letter today. I think I am going to have to have my husband open mine. My nerves are shot. Bleh.
