Group one -black list for nurses in dallas

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Has anyone out there been reported as not rehireable? The Chapter One list in the Dallas area is a list of nurses who has been fired and not recommended for rehire. You are not supposed to be reported if you resign and you are supposed to notified if you are placed on the list. Neither of the two are true. I am wanting to know if anybody has fought it and been able to get your name removed from the list. Also does anyone know how long your name stays on the list? I do have a phone # I plan to call next week and hopefully get a few answers. I will let you know if I get anywhere. Please let me know if you can help.

I am very curious. A friend of mine might have been affected by this list. How do you find out if your name is on it? (mine is not. I work at one job forever at a time).

If you mean Group One, you can find many, many threads about it in the Texas Nurses Forum. Texas Nurses - Nursing for Nurses

How can that be right, especially in 'will to work' states where you can be fired at any time for any reason with no recourse???!!! :twocents::hrnsmlys::nurse::redpinkhe:confused:

I'm not in Texas. Are they a 'will to work' state?

The cornucopia represents how easily we can be replaced in these states. If only I could figure out how to put l'il tiny nurse hats on them?

Whatever this "list" is... sounds highly unethical to me.

I don't know much about the American constitution but any "list" that denies a person the right to work is surely unconstitutional?

Even if they have committed an offence, they should have a chance of rehabilitation, the right to prove themselves and to be allowed to pick themselves up and get on with their lives.

I wouldn't call it unethical, I'd describe it as draconian, and out of place in a democratic society.

One of the many reasons I would never in a million years live in Texas.

Specializes in Acute Rehab/Geriatrics.

I have never heard of a list like this. Sounds like slander/libel to me. Do the employers make these lists?

Welcome to the new order: the internet.

The list itself is not denying employment to anyone. If a private entity chooses to compile a list such as this, post it on the internet, and other private corporations choose to look at it, I don't see how it's unconstitutional. I don't know much about Group One but I went to the Texas site and read a little about it. If all they're doing is posting a nurse's name and facts about that nurse's termination from XX hospital, I don't know how an individual could claim defamation.

Just sayin.....

And man, am I glad I don't live in Texas!

Ah, I see-rather like a credit blacklist. I've seen the impact that can have on a person's life; pretty devastating! Also a bit like the practice of companies to pass your name on to insurance companies, banks, dating oraganizations ETcetera ETcetera. And I shudder to open my spam box!!!! "Enlarge your member", "Hot Media sites" "Great deals on Viagra!" I mean, someone had to have passed on my email address!

Your BON is your governing body, right? Information regarding nurses who have committed offences is therefore in their domain. Employment records, however, are a confidential matter between employer and employee. It should be a contravention of privacy to release such info. Nasty, no wonder Texas only gets one star....:D.

I :redpinkhe Texas but am disappointed they would allow their nurses :nurse: to be treated this way! :o

Group One existed long before the Internet. And,yes,I had a friend denied employment because of his Group One report. They report complaints, deferred adjudications, basically anything negative that comes to their attention. They are a legal entity. There are hospitals in Dallas the have a no-hire policy for any negative Group One report.
