Texas Children's Summer 2020

I wanted to start this for students/first year nurses who are applying at Texas Children's for the summer 2020 cohort, the application should open end of February/March. If anyone has insight to the firm timeline, good contacts, unit specific knowledge, this would be a good place do talk about it!

Is anyone else worried they might cancel this residency class all together? I know people who are working in the PICU right now and they are having to take mandatory time off because the census is too low at the hospital.

I heard through the grapevine (my old preceptor) that the people who got offers are being cancelled. I have no idea if this is true or not, but it is what I heard. I really hope not bc I have a lot of friends that are waiting on TCH.

I didn't think anyone had gotten offers yet because of the freeze?

I really don't know which it is, if people are losing their original offers or if they're just delaying the rest of the offers and the program. That's just what my preceptor texted me because she wanted to give me a heads-up.

Does anyone have any more info? I am wondering why people didn’t receive the notification of a pause on offers and if this means that people who got it received it as a denial? thanks in advance

I think it depends on what email list you were on. Did you originally get an interview for the open house? What location/unit were you?

Yes and I interviewed with PICU and CICU! I am referring to the email of pausing offers till June!

Hope everyone is well, I had a quick question does everyone’s application still say under review? Just thought I ask.

Mine says under review. I did not get the pause offer email nor have I been able to get ahold of anyone.

Same! I’ve called HR many times and the line is always dead. My app still says under review and I never received the pause email either
