Hi everyone (please be kind with answers)! I began on a pediatric mixture floor (floor, IMU and ICU) about a year and a few months. I have developed severe anxiety and have tried all the fixes- meds, therapists, switching to days etc. It has honestly been the worst year of my life. I panic about meds, IV starts, and just making mistakes in general. Everything I do, I panic that I did it wrong, or I will make a mistake and cost myself my license or worse. I have gained so much knowledge and grown as a nurse, but I just truly cannot do it anymore. I stuck it out a year like everyone said, but now thats just what I feel: Stuck. I do not like working weekends, and I feel like I have no life anymore outside of work- its just work and panic.
I am looking for advice on jobs that an RN can get without more education or than around 2 years experience. I want to know about school nursing (what is it like day to day), outpatient nursing, nursing that doesn't require you to have medical procedures or to give medications (where most of my anxiety lays). I have looked into everything I can think of but I just cannot find what would be best. Please, if you have left the traditional bedside, what do you do and how do I find those jobs?
Thank you so much in advance. Nursing is a blessing in so many ways, and I was lucky to learn on my unit, but I cannot keep going at this rate. Please help ?
