testing this Thursday....so nervous!

Posted

I'm taking my boards this Thursday at 8am. To say I'm nervous is an understatement. I've been studying Kaplan the past 4 weeks and studying the prioritization book as well. Tomorrow is my last study day. I'm taking Wednesday to clear my mind and try to relax my brain. Any last minute words of encouragement or advice?? Any is greatly appreciated :)

Good luck!! Taking NCLEX in about 4 weeks and I'm stressing sooo much it's hard to focus. Will say a prayer for you :)

Thank you!! I reschedule from last week. I just wasn't ready but I don't feel as if I'm not ready this time just super nervous.

Good luck! I'm taking it tomorrow. :nailbiting: I planned to do the "take the night off studying" thing the day before the exam, but it turns out that studying is the only thing that relieves my stress, so... I'm still studying. Best wishes to you -- may we both become RNs this week!

Just try and relax (I know easier said then done). Spend the day before your NCLEX eve studying drug classes (not every drug in the book) and the and their most common and uncommon side effects. Review EKGs (nothing in depth, just the basics), labs, and anything you feel you struggle with (for me it was acid base balances). You don't have to be an expert, just make sure you know the basics, the basics can get you a long way! And do a bunch of questions. Don't try and lean anything new, you will over whelm yourself. On your NCLEX eve get out of town for the day. I spent the day looking for the testing center (thank goodness I did because it took me over an hour to find!) and then met up with a friend from nursing school who had already taken the NCLEX. She kept me encouraged and distracted. Review the rules before going so that you won't be taken off guard by anything, and get to bed early. You have made it this far, you can do this!

Thanks so much!!! Today is my last day studying. I figure I need to clear my head tomorrow before I sit in front of a computer all day thursday. I'm hoping I don't get all 265 questions but I'm preparing for it just in case so I don't get too discouraged. I figure if I do get all the questions though, it means I must be answering enough right to keep getting them. I'm so super nervous.

I'm thinking of taking a bottled water and snacks in case I'm there all day, does anyone know if they allow that?

I am also testing Thursday at 8 A.M.! Man these nerves can get to you. I put a lot of belief in positive thinking, so I am going in confident that I will pass. You can take water and snacks, I am not sure if you can have them with you while testing, but I believe there are lockers available to testers. Remember as long as the test is continuing you are near passing! If you start to get stressed out, take a break and refocus. Good luck!

Goodluck and god bless you!

Good luck to you Thursday as well!! I'm debating if I want to try the PVT after I'm done with my test or not. I'm so scared it'll go to the credit card page. Ahhhh why do by nerves always get the best of me.

I feel like I prepared pretty well and I feel ready but still scared for some reason.

Hi! I'll also be testing this Thursday, 2PM (since im not a morning person. Haha) Hoping we'll be RNs before independence day :D

I hope so too!! I can't believe I'm testing tomorrow morning. I'm starting to get butterflies on my stomach.

I've been studying everyday for the past 4 weeks. I'm not picking up any books lol I'm trying to relax and decompress so I'm fresh tomorrow morning. My husband is even getting up with me in the morning to give me a little pep talk and encouragement before I head out the door.

You guys will do great!! Positive thinking is a wonderful thing!

I tested last Thursday, and my RN license posted to the CA BRN website on Saturday morning. I only studied about three weeks prior to testing, including taking a Kaplan course offered through my college. I definitely went into it feeling confident. Don't be worried or surprised if you feel bad or doubt yourself when the computer turns off, though!! I had 90 questions and then the test turned off, and I wasn't 100 percent sure how I had done! That test makes you question your knowledge at times, that is for sure! :-)

Good luck!!!!

I am relaxing. Here and there I am running through lab values, or reviewing the set up for drug calc., and a few questions here and there from PDA. Nothing that is making me feel crammed or trying to learn new things. I wish I could do absolutely nothing, but I would get nervous and thats the last thing I want. Remember to get a good sleep, and if possible eat a small breakfast! (Nothing too large, my friend took it today and vomited before and after taking the exam.)
