I noticed that there has not been a 2014 topic started yet for the Temple College nursing programs. I am getting nervous and want to know if there is anyone out there applying for the same year I am. I will be applying for the ADN and LVN program. So far I have all my pre and co-requisites completed with a 3.76 GPA. I will be taking my hesi test this October, and I also live IN-district. I am nervous and losing sleep over whether or not my scores will be good enough!
Thanks summer!! I think my GPA is the only thing that gives me hope lol... But, I think for a back up plan I might just apply to CTC's Nursing Program for January 2015. That way I would have a chance at boosting my Hesi score and possibly being closer to home. Also, a friend of mines said that she dropped her application off today and asked the director how many applicants so far and she said 210 as of today!!! The numbers are climbing and we still have a little under a week to go until deadline!
Hi ladies!
Congrats to all of you! I just found your thread and am so excited for you. I live in Austin and plan on applying for the LVN program. How competitive is the LVN program? I know there's no formal formula like ADN, but is it safe to assume the higher the GPA and HESI A2 the better chance you have? I'm worried about not getting that 1 point for living in district. I will have Intro to A&P, and Pharmacology done but not the computer class, is that absolutely necessary? Any advice is appreciated :-)
HI Karbear! Summer is our seasoned nurse/student nurse, so she would have the best advice. As far as the LVN program this next app period, you have to make ATLEAST an 80 on the HESI to apply, this last app period was a minimum of 70 but they bumped it up. And its still a points system, so having intro to A&P and the computer class, will definitely make or break you. I would say even for the LVN program, do your best to get the highest grades possible so you can have a good feeling about your chances until you have to actually wait ( haha- the part when youll start doubting yourself). LVN isnt GPA picky like the ADN but it cant hurt to keep it up so you can be a first pick. I have met people who have made alternate or didnt get in at all with better GPA and grades than I made but applied later then I did turning in the application so also try to get yours in ASAP when the app period opens up :) Good luck to ya hun and welcome to our thread OH and Cocoa is also in Austin and was accepted this year so that district point doesnt quite determine acceptance. Just keep your stats high as possible
Dang! They were busy yesterday! From 160ish to 210. Yikes!! I cant wait till the app period closes! Just a few more days!!!
I have a few friends that I worked with that went to CTC, and they said it was great!! If I wouldnt have gotten in to TCs bridge program, i was going to apply to CTC and MCC.
The LVN program here is pretty competetive. I guess its cause they only offer the program once a year, unlike CTC that does it twice a year. However, the higher your grades and HESI, the better chance you have. The LVN class has already been chosen for this year, so you have plenty of time to get the computer class in. You dnt necessarily HAVE to have it before u apply, but since you arent in disctrict, i would recommend that you take it!
I can't believe how many people are putting in their applications in just 2 days. I want to stay positive, but I know i will probably not get in. It seems like they just want people with 90's on their HESI. My friend got an 83 on her hesi and they said she will get NO points for that. I don't get it :/
I know! Thats nuts!!! Not even one point?! Well, the good thing about bridging at TC.... NOOOO hesi! Its been so long since i took it, id probably get test anxiety and pass out.... yet, somehow i managed to pass state boards. Although, i nearly passed out after the test. I swore i had failed, it cut off DURING a question. So, Maddy, if u dont get in this year (although im SURE u will).. when u bridge, breathe free knowing u never have to take that stinkin test again at TC.
Summer so finally I went up there today and dropped off all the immunizations and paperwork. I brough my acceptance letter just in case she could not locate my file LOL. Anyway I guess they are sending letters out pretty soon for the ADN because nancy had tons of letters sealed up in envelopes like our stacked on her desk when she was checking me off. Two more weeks until orientation girl maybe we can do lunch afterwards if you don't have to work.
hahaha! I hope after my incident, she double checked EVERYONES file. I bet this time of year is so hectic for her!
I wonder what the letters were?! The ADN ones arent suppose to go out till May. Maybe they were something for the graduating class or us?
AND MAYBE IN THAT STACK OF LETTERS WAS JORDANS LETTER!!!! I cant wait till she gets hers. Its only a matter of time!
2 weeks!!!!!!!!! I cant wait. I am so ready to start getting myself ready. I am such an OCD person, and if I dont have things lined up, it really messes with me. We will get our schedules and books lists at orientation. SOOOO excited!
Lunch sounds awesome! I am off Mon-Thurs now, so I am game!!! :)

Oh, and Belton and Temple are like 5 minutes apart. My case is in Belton, and I live on the compete NORTH end of Temple, going towards Waco, and it only takes me 8 minutes to get to work.
