I was reading in the General Discussion BB, where one of the regulars asked everyone to tell us a little bit about themselves. It is a great idea! We are mostly students in here, and we need to get a little background on each other, instead of just the regular whining that we seem to do! I will start. My name is Angie and I am about to beging my third and final year of nursing school. I live in Canada, but plan on relocating to Florida soon after writing my RN's. I have three children. Two boys (5 & 3) , and a little girl (2months). I had my daughter in the last three weeks of second year. Yeesh! My husband is fantastic and has stuck with me for the last ten years. I figure if he sticks around while I am in school....then we are doing all right! When I graduate....I wanna new navy blue Jetta!

Hi y'all. My name is Jenn and I am 24 years old and am starting the nursing program on August 27th. :) I am married and I also have 2 kids who are 5 and 2. :) I will be attending a community college here in the Dallas area to get my ADN and eventually will be getting my BSN and then my Master's. Hi ya'll. I'm 35, single tho I do have a cat. I will be starting the bridge MSN program at Vanderbilt. I have a BS and MS in exercise physiology. I'm specializing in acute care and hope to work for a cardiology group when I graduate. I will be working some but the bulk of my funding will be loans. The hardest thing for me will be moving to Nashville. I have roots here and in 5 weeks they will be ripped out. But I am willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve this goal.

My name is Moni (hence my screen name), and I am 28 years old. I have been married for almost 4 years (Anniversary: July 4th). We have 2 "fur babies": Mets and Dallas (hence my old screen name).

I have 2 Bachelors Degrees: Sports Medicine and Mathematics. Currently, I am taking my last prereq (Microbiology). On May 12th, I took the NLN Entrance Test, and I should get the results anyday now. :eek: If everything goes okay, I should start clinicals this upcoming spring.

I am 26 and in an evening ADN program that starts in August. I am doing intensive A&P now - lots of work. I also work 30 hrs/week, which makes for a busy schedule, but I don't have to take out any loans. I have a BA and MS in Community Health, and hope to start an MS in Nursing soon after getting my nursing license. I'd like to be a nurse practitioner...

I am married, two cats, new puppy - he takes at least half of my spare time.

Hi everyone, forgive me if I spell anything wrong or talk funny, but I just watched 9kids for 9 hrs and I am prettty tired. Thats my job, Im seasonal, I watch everyones kids in the summer. I have three rugrats of my own. Three gals ages 12,10 and 8. I am 36 and have been married for 14 years.

And yes, like all you nuts I have decided to choose a career that will turn my life upside down. But I cant wait to start it. I will start in the fall at a local community college,if fact I just registered Mondya for a Basic math ( been out of school 17 years and I'm a dummy)lol, and a pschy and socology class. I am only going part time. Which is 3 classes a semester for me. At this rate It will take 5 years to finish, but thats ok, this is the best time line for me. I didnt take chemistry or algebra in high school, so I have all these extra course to take. I really enjoy reading everyones imput, from other fellow student to experienced nurses. I'm Paul, 43 years old, married for 11 years with a 3.5 year old son. I've been an ER nurse in Houston TX for 4 years and am half way through a master's in nursing. My short term goal is to be working an ER nurse practitioner in 2002. Good luck to all of you. Take one day at a time and before you know it you will be walking across the stage. Hi all. I found this BB a little late, but I've been enjoying it of late. My name is Karen and I'm 34 years old (soon to be 35). I graduated high school in '85 and didn't have a clue as to what I wanted to do with my life. I moved up north and worked for a medical insurance company, moved back down south and worked for a family physician and there I found my love for nursing. I quit working in '93 to return to school, but the urge to get married and have a family was stronger, so I dropped school and married and had my daughter in '95. My husband is college educated and I didn't want my daughter to use me as an excuse not to do anything with her life, so I returned to school to "make" something of mine. I came up with a 4 year plan to complete an ADN program. I'm proud to say, that on 5/4/01 I graduated that program with honors. My father had a massive heart attack last August and has been in and out of ICU/CCU's. I've developed quite an interest in cardiac care, but unfortunately, unless I move from the rural area in which I live, I won't be able to pursue that dream. My other love while I was in school was psych. So, I've been hired to work in the Med/Surg unit at the local hospital where I'll work for 6 weeks. Then, I'll transfer to the psych unit where I'll train there. It's a fascinating field to work/learn in. Eventually, I'd like to return to school to get my bachelor's, but after 4 years of studying and test taking, I'm ready to work for a while (besides, my check book insists!)

Well, I am very new here, but decided to jump on in. I am not actually a nursing student yet, but I know I will be. I will be starting back to school in the fall. I went half way through an RN program about 8 years ago. I went through a divorce and never completed it. I am sure that I can do it this time. I worked as a medical assistant and a phlebotomist for a while so I think that will help me in my studies. I am praying that the school will transfer all of my classes so that I only have to take the prerequisites that were different from what I took at my previous college. I am waiting on my records to be received and then I will be up to talk to the admissions office. I am so very excited. I guess I should mention some personal stuff about me. I am 27 (almost 28). I have 4 children, 3 boys and a 9 week old baby girl. I have a wonderful and supportive dh now. I live in Michigan, but grew up and went to school previously in Florida. I am a Navy veteran amongst other things. Well, I am so looking forward to going back to school. Sorry this is so long, but reading these boards just keeps me encouraged. I am so glad to have found a place like this.

Hi, I'm Zannie Liska, I'm 25 years old. My husband and I currently own a business and we are selling our business. He works full time and I run the business - he is going to concentrate on his career and I am going to Nursing school. :)

I start my prereq's in 2 weeks (starting with the 2nd Summer Session). I am planning on getting my BSN. I am attending the local community college to save some money and am going to get all of my prereq's there and then go onto a 4-year institution for my BSN. :)

Hi my name is Jill. I'm 35 years old, been married for almost 10 years and have 4 kids...8 years old, 5 year old and 1 year old twins. I started doing my prereqs about 6 years ago to get my nursing degree and then my friend lost her baby when she was about 7 months pregnant and then had to deliver her baby at the hospital. I decided then that nursing wasn't for me and switched to a computer degree. Well....after 3 years of almost getting my degree...I've decided computers are too impersonal and I need to work with people. Every time I walk in a hospital, something inside says "I want to be a nurse". So....I'm going to go for it this time. I don't want to be 60 years old and say "why didn't I ever get my nursing degree". I start Statistics and Medical Terminology in 2 weeks and can't wait!

Hello, my name is Sheila. I am 28 years old, married to a wonderful man who is my best friend, and have a lovely daughter age 4 and a wonderful baby boy on the way due July 2, 2001. I am currently in my first year of nursing school for an ADN. My classes have been wonderful thus far but next semester we are learning how to do IV's (yikes!!!) I am nervous about this. My family have been very supportive during my time of school. Oh by the way did I also mention that I work 40 hours a week for an Internal Medicine physician. I have a heavy load but have managed so far. Once I graduate I plan on taking a second honeymoon trip and starting my career in either oncology or labor/delivery. Best wishes to all of you nursing students, I am sure that everyone will do well! I'm going to try!!
