Hi Ankha. I'm assuming you're talking about the BSN program. I will be starting the BSN program there this fall. You probably already know that spring application periods are for current CSULB students only. Looking at the application pool stat, it seems like spring application periods are less competitive so you'll probably have a good chance of being accepted. But it probably wouldn't hurt to take the TEAS again & hopefully you'll score higher.
CSULB looked at my overall TEAS score, math TEAS score, overall GPA, and science prerequisite GPA. On a 10 point scale, your science prerequisite GPA is worth up to 4 points. Overall TEAS, math TEAS, and overall GPA are worth up to 2 points each. You're probably in good shape if you have a overall rating of 8 or above. Good luck!
Sorry, maybe my message is too late.
They check for the overall TEAS score, TEAS math section (hopefully above 90% or else they'll give you a tutor), sciences, and the foundation GE classes.
From what I know today after talking to Monalisa (the admissions coordinator), transfers are being considered for the Spring 2011 term. So if you didn't get an email from her by now, then yeah.... check your spam folder though. So far, 20 students did not contact her back about interviews.
The stats are pretty high for Spring, but not as high as the Fall 2010 stats.
HOPE THIS HELPS! Good luck! Anymore questions, feel free to ask!
CSULB won't let you change the grades you currently have. So lets say you received a C in a course... you can't make that up for CSULB's nursing. You only have one shot. Contrary, you can retake the TEAS as many times as you like to get a better score.
Any of your science classes in progress? If so, try to get an A.
Remember, Fall semesters are harder to get into than Spring. Statistics for last Fall (the one I didn't get into) was a score of 8.9-10.
The equation:
-science GPA is 3.0 = 3.00 (so whatever your GPA is, that is the number for the science part.
-A 3.5 GPA for foundation classes (critical thinking, oral comm, written comm, math), so 3.5 divided by 4= .875, which is the same as 1.75 divided by 2= .875
-94% for TEAS= 1.88 divided by 2= 94%
-92% for math= 1.84 divided by 2= 92%
so, 3.00 + 1.75 + 1.88 + 1.82= 8.47 out of 10. That is all the nursing department base their decision on.
Good luck!
Hey Everyone can tell me what version of the TEAS Long beach accepts... because on their website it says version 5.0 only but I am not sure if the website says that because that is the version they administer or the only version they accept. I already took version 4 and did really well on it so I am praying I don't have to retake it. I tried calling them but they are out of the office till Jan 3rd and I stressing out I hope I don't have to wait that long. Thanks in advance!

Hello everyone,
I'm applying for the CSULB Spring 2011 program and contemplating on whether or not I should retake the test. I got 80s and 90s on all the sections except science
. I got a 66.7 there. Should I retake it or am I good to go? I am planning on applying for the next TEAS exam on Aug 12, which leads to my next question. I am aware that CSULB doesn't really care how many times you take the test, but is there some rule about how frequently it can be taken (for example, once per semester)? I couldn't find any info on that on their website and it's a little late to call them now.
Also, CSULB says that they look at the overall TEAS grade. Does this mean that they will only look at and care for that 84.7%? Or will they scrutinize each individual section and check my scores on them, and then take the overall score into account. I'm proud of all my section scores except science.
My science GPA is 3.0 and GE GPA 3.5. It's a little low, I know, but I hope it's enough to make it in.
What do you guys and gals think?
