Teas Test

Published

hi

i am taking the teas test feb.25, 2008 at ivy tech.

does anyone have any advice for me?

~thanks~

no, i have not taken the teas at all. i mean't, i hope that i do not get the version you got. are you going to take it again? i heard nearly everybody does better the second time around. in fact, my advisor suggested i take it just to see whats on it and then take it again.

duh! you were posting to someone else. sorry!:imbar

eat something for breakfast, even if you feel too nervous to eat! read the questions carefully.... the science portion is not going to be what you expect, i had one anatomy question...i think it had to do with the pancreas. the rest were life science type questions...that i had in 7th & 8th grade:confused:...the math part was fairly easy, but a little tricky. if you have this : like 7:4...it is division...i forgot & thought it was ratio...there are a couple of math questions that are time consuming, you read the paragraph...joe is going to sew a shirt, he needs three yards of fabric, 6 buttons blah blah blah....then there is a list of all the things he needs with the prices, you have to calculate it all up

1 yard of fabric...$2.50...joes needs 3 yards...

pkg. of 2 buttons...$1.75...joe needs 6 buttons......that sort of thing.

there will be some tricky spelling words, they all look right. brush up on the periodic table. i had a question on zinc...how many electrons, protons...

good luck, take your time & you will do great!

I just went to an information session at my school & they said you could only take the TEAS test twice! And they said that if you happen to do worse the 2nd time.... they will take your most recent score no matter what it is!

So those of you thinking of taking a test "just to see what it's like", or taking it a 2nd time next month...... be certain you are prepared because you don't want to waste any chances!

Has anyone else heard this? (That you can only take it 2 x's.... PERIOD).

????

Hello,

The school I am applying to only allows you to take the TEAS once a year.:o So if you don't do well the first time you need to wait another year. Not very fair.. Good luck everyone.

at my ivy tech campus we can take the teas test 3 times in a two-year period regardless of the testing location. only the first three scores are considered and there has to be 30 days in between the test dates. the exam scores are valid for 2 years and it cost us $30.00 each time.

thanks for the well wishes!!:nuke:

what about the question with the crazy line graph asking about 2 liquids being mixed in 100 ml of water and the temp being brought down to 20 and asking which one was the precipitate. i couldn't even understand that flipping graph. oh well hopefully i'll get a different version next time. good luck on your score!

there was also a question about being in space and having 3 boxes and knowing how to choose the one with lead in it vs. the 2 empty ones without opening them. i'm no dummy in science and was expecting that to be my best score, instead it was my lowest score...by 30 points.

i had those same questions on the teas! and i struggled on those! don't know if i got them right or not, but i only scored a 73 on the science portion... if you don't mind me asking.... how did you answer those questions? i'm thinking about taking the teas again... thanks!!

Does anyone know what grade of the teas is being considered by schools for admission? is it the individual composite score or the program percentile? please i would like to know.i will be grateful for answers

The scores that schools look at are the adjusted individual total score (a percentage--- like 89%), as well as your adjusted individual scores for each subject - reading, math, science and english. They also take into consideration your percentile rank. All of these scores will make sense to you after you take the test and you have your results in your hands. Try not to stress out.. you will do better if you are not stressed.

You will have to check with the individual program because the answer varies. Some programs are only interested in a minimum passing (cut-)score of some determined value. The ADNs around here are remarkably low - like 67 or 69% of the individual score is all that is needed. So long as you get or exceed the minimum, it doesn't matter what you get. While other programs will look at the percentile ranking for the program, and award points for ranking. Others take top scores, etc.

i took the teas test back in november. i went into it without studying and had no clue what to expect!!! but i can tell you that i thought it was very easy. i had a 98% in reading, 89% in science, 91% in math and an 80% in english. i definately thought the english was the hardest but i'm not very good with spelling and they asked quite a few questions on that. i don't know what study materials to tell you to use because i didn't have any of them but i'm sure you're going to do great!!! :nuke::p

testprepreview.com has a lot of questions regarding the teas test. are these questions similar to the q's on the test? i think the q's in the book are easier myself. thanks:twocents:
