Teas Test
The scores that schools look at are the adjusted individual total score (a percentage--- like 89%), as well as your adjusted individual scores for each subject - reading, math, science and english. They also take into consideration your percentile rank. All of these scores will make sense to you after you take the test and you have your results in your hands. Try not to stress out.. you will do better if you are not stressed.

TEAS Test?
Student, I don't know how the Teas differs from the Net, but in my opinion, the reading portion of the Teas is the easiest part. If english is your native language, then I think you will be fine. Just read the questions thoroughly BEFORE you read the passage so you know what to look for. There really is no way to study in advance for the reading portion.

Nursing Exam
Future was your overall score 69% or was that just your math portion score? If it was your overall score, then yes I do think you should retake it. If it was just your math portion, what was your overall? Also, what is your GPA like? Do you have a previous degree? These are all things that are going to make you more attractive to an admission coordinator. Do you know how much emphasis your school puts on Teas scores? If you have a good GPA, then that is going to help you.

Just took TEAS exam
Intuition, THANK you for posting this! Was there a lot on ionic/covalent bonds in the chemistry section? Did you need to know specific details about the period table and the elements? Also, I know the test itself last 3 to 4 hours.. did they let you get up and stretch or go to the restroom? I don't know if I can sit still for that long with out getting a drink of water or going to the bathroom!

Has anyone here taken the Teas online assessment practice test?
I am glad you responded. The science portion got me too!!! Yikes! There were a few questions that I know for a fact that there were two answers that were correct, and that drives me NUTS! Did you have the question that asked you which compound was an ionic bond? I wonder how many of those are on the actual Teas?

Has anyone here taken the Teas online assessment practice test?
And if so was it like the real Teas? Harder? Easier? Anyone?

Ramblins- Getting into Nursing School and GPA
Thanks everyone for reading my "poor me" post and for your encouragement. Catzy I hope I didn't offend you at all. Its great that you are taking classes and have a family. I commend you for all that you are doing to better yourself! And again its not that I hold anything against those that take one class at a time. Just having my own little pity party. If I just extract the prerequisite classes that are needed for my program my GPA is much higher... maybe they will take that into account? I bombed 4th semster Spanish (Spanish 4) and made a D (which is not needed for my prgram, just 1 semester of foreign language and I got an A in Spanish 1), which in turn, bombed my GPA. We were required to take a ton of foreign language for my BA. Up to then I did pretty well in spanish. Oh well.. whats done is done. Thanks everyone.:wink2:

Ramblins- Getting into Nursing School and GPA
I am just kind of rambling here, but I need to talk about this and get other opinions, so bear with me. I graduated college 16 years ago, and at the time I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. I got through college in 4 years and at times had to take 18 credits a semester as a result of the fact that I changed schools. Several things happened to me in college (hey.. life happens, right?!), father was diagnosed as terminal and died close to the end of my college years. Grade wise.. well, they are not what they should have been especially the year my dad died. Still I got through it, was never on academic probation and even made Dean's list a few times, but the overall GPA- respectable, but not stellar. Fast forward a few years. Desperately trying to get into nursing school (I want an AD program), but worried that the grades of my youth will keep me from realizing this. My GPA is 2 hundreths of a point lower than what the school I am looking into says they require. I will take the prerequisites that I did not take in college - like A&P and Micro (had a micro but it didn't have a lab so have to redo it), but even if I get 3 As I am not sure that will pull my overall GPA up much. *sigh*.. I am just feeling frustrated. Also the GPA thing doesn't seem fair to me at times. And I am NOT trying to offend here, so please don't take it that way. BUT if someone goes to school and takes 1 class at a time and is able to complete their degree (which is a GREAT thing, I am not saying its not) but is able to make all As, and keep a 4.0, whereas someone else takes a full class load but has a lower GPA - do schools take this into account? I mean, I don't think anyone would argue with me that taking 5 classes at a time is harder to juggle than taking one class at a time? No? Does anyone see what I am saying? Anyone PLEASE don't anyone take offense here. I am just rambling like I said. I just really want this. I KNOW I can do the work.. I know I can- IF I was given the opportunity. Its just being able to get into a program and the stiff competition that gets to me sometimes. Anyone else? I am just frustrated. Comments?

A & P without taking chem first?
I was wondering how difficult it is to do A & P without taking chemistry first? The school I will be taking my prerequisites at does not require Chem as a prerequisite for A & P, but I know a lot of others do. I had Chem in high school many many moons ago and really don't want to revisit it. How much chem knowledge is expected in A & P?

Does anyone here go to or know anything about GA Highland's nursing program?
OliveOyl is it possible to attend the Acworth program and not be accepted into the wellstar scholarship program?

I'm confused about a test question. Help please
Is it normal for questions on a nursing exam to be so ambiguous?

I'm confused about a test question. Help please
Well if the OP didn't leave any wording out of the question, why would the man have a catheter in the first place? According to the question, he is in the nursing home for dementia, and confusion. What is the catheter for? You can't catheterize a pt because they are incontinent, so its hard NOT to read into the question lol. I still say C, because vest restraints can be normal protocol for wandering, falling patients. Catheters and mitts are not, unless he is in the nursing home for something other than dementia. Very confusing question.

I'm confused about a test question. Help please
Excuse me for interjecting - I am not a nursing student... YET, but I am a former nursing home social worker. A - Honestly I don't think mitt restraints would prevent a patient that was hell bent on pulling out a catheter from doing so. I have seen a lot in the nursing home, and I can just see some man putting one mitt on one side and another on another, give a tug and ... taaadaaa.. no more catheter! B - No no no.. full mummy restraints are RARELY if ever used. Least restrictive restraint. C - to me seems to be the mostly likely correct answer. Vest restraints WILL keep a wandering, CONFUSED, patient in bed AT NIGHT. Remember, dementia patients tend to wander at night. D- is false. Restraints are not the ONLY way to keep a patient safe from injury. I am interested in finding out the correct answer. Post when you know.

Does anyone here go to or know anything about GA Highland's nursing program?
Do they have a good nursing program? I have looked at the info that is available on their website and it doesn't mention anything about a required entrance exam like the TEAS. Do they require it? I would love any info on this program anyone has. If you don't want to post here, please PM me. Thanks!
