HI, I am really nervous about the Teas Test. Can you share what will you do different? I am not good in Math. How is the structure in the sciences. I am also nervous about that. If you have done the Teas in 2009, any tips are welcome. Wish me luck ! I will be doing the test on Dec 17th 2009.

Thank God you have until Dec17th to take the test... First study.. and study some more. A close friend took her TEAS last week -- she made a 71 barely able to sneak into the application lottery for PTEC LPN. She made 71 based on her reading, spelling skills. She bombed the math and science. I studied math and science and reviewed reading comp and spelling to up my overall score.. well that seemed to work. A posting on the site some time ago mentioned a book on rapidshare.. look in the general search for that link and download that book ASAP. I printed out sections at a time and took them everywhere I went. I also just purchashed the National League for Nursing -- LPN Pre-Entrance Exam book.. I really like it. I am taking my PAX next week as I decided to pursue another school...so, I am studying for that now... Good Luck to you!! Let us know how you do!

All you need is the study guide from the ATITT websight that you sign up for the TEAS on. Check out the post called Science TEAS, I helped answer alot of the science questions that I remembered from the test, it will give you a idea about the level of questions on test. The Science section in the TEAS book is way harder then the actual exam. Don't bother practicing the science questions there is nothing on the exam. Focus on the Math section and English section. The reading section is really easy My hardest part was the Math, its not that difficult but you have to move really fast. Do not spend longer then 1.5 min. per question. There are 45 questions on Math and you have 56 mins for that portion. Its mostly adding, subtraction, dividing, muliplying. Alot of ratios, proportion, metric system, a few algebraic questions, Distance=Rate x Time, Interest= Rate x principal x Time
Like I said check out the other post it will help you

Don't forget to practice the metric section of the maths and know the different conversion. There a few questions on that section. The ATI study guide is really good for the maths, reading and the english. The science is another story. The teas online practice exam may be of some help. It is similar to the real thing and will give you a good idea of what to expect on the exam. I also used the McGraw Hill to study the science section.

Hey,
I think you'll do fine. I just took the TEAS last night and I have to say it was the easiest standardized exam of the century. Granted the science section was random, the reading, verbal, and math were extremely easy.
The reading portion basically consisted of reading labels and understanding what they're telling you. Stuff we do on an everyday basis already! (example, the back of a medicine packet, dosage, warnings, etc) Also there were couple questions on following directions where they make you copy a string of letters, replace specific letters, cross out some, and ask what do you get at the end.
The math was simple math. I did not find the need to memorize formulas for anything. It is true there were questions that needed me to go from KG to POUNDS and another from INCHES to METRIC, and CELSIUS to FAHRENHEIT but honestly there is no need to stress yourself out!!! I answered ALL questions perfectly without knowing a single thing about formulas. From KG to LB, I knew what I weighed in KG and knew what translated to LB so I estimated. Their answers aren't tricky either, most wrong answers are way off. Inches to Metric, just use what you remember from a regular ruler, and guesstimate! Celsius to Fahrenheit, just remember in Asia, they're usually 20-30 C's and thats our normal 60-80 F temp.
Verbal, you just have to know your punctuation! When to use a comma, semi-colon, colon, quotation marks, parentheses. You can't study vocab, either you know it or you don't, theres only 3-5 questions on vocab, simple! Put in the context ,they ask you which definition fits.
The only thing I thought I was do differently was GLANCE OVER SCIENCE!!! lol but it was so random!!! They literally asked a question from ALL sections of science. Even things we learn in elementary, like plants and rocks (1-2 questions).
ANYWAYS, hope I helped! GOOD LUCK! You'll be fine! I only studied 4 hours before the test, took a practice test and thought it was a joke! I think people overly stress themselves and don't give themselves enough credit. I used the free prep book they had on rapid share so I can forward you the book. GOOD LUCK!!!!!! Don't psych yourself out!

Ditto everything ASBN said. I took it today and really thought that the Kaplan review book practice exams were harder than the actual test. For instance, the reading portions in the practice tests were soooooooo much longer than the actual reading portions on the TEAS. And I am talking about the multi-paragraph readings, not the actual number of questions for the reading section. Does that make sense?
My school really looks at reading and English from what I can gather, so I really didn't waste too much time on the math and science and still got an 84% and 80% respectively.
Know your conversions for the math, also decimals and fractions were big. The science is really hit or miss - you either know what an igneious rock is and what atomic mass is or you don't.
GL! And don't worry!!

Can you forward me the book please?
Of Course. I would need your email address. I saw someone get in trouble for putting their email address in the forums, so I'm not sure if we are allowed to? Let me know how I can get it to you!

Hi my fellow nursing students. I took the teas test a few months ago and failed it by 3 points. Yes I have the teas book to study, but the math and science really got the best of me. Has anyone used the flashcards? Would they benenficial to me, I just dont wanna fail again. I have the opportunity to retake the test in March and I dont think i could stand it, if I failed it again. Please any info would help.
