Science questions.. Whew
-
Just finished taking the TEAS! We didn't get the computer option so I have to wait a week for my results:( I feel like I did pretty good. A few points: The reading was a piece of cake. The science portion, was not what I was expecting, but I googled al the questions I wasnt sure about when I got home, and it turns out I'm a great guesser, lol. There were quite a few earth science problems, which I wasnt prepared for. THe math was easy but time consuming. I finished on time, but to do it you have to do as much estimating and answer elimination as you can. My friend took it with me, and she ran out of time with 10 problems left. She started tearing up in there, poor girl:( It's hard to tell how I did on the English section. I know I missed 2 for sure, both spelling problems.Another thing to remember is that you have to answer 170 questions, but 20 of them dont count. The thing is you don't know which 20. So that could totally impact your score either way. I also found some mistakes in the test and asked the proctor, and he told me those are some of the questions that dont count. I think that sounds pretty shady myself. Does anyone know if you can ask to review or dispute a TEAS score? i think you should be able to when there are obvious errors.....
Alex, WOOT! Right on!! Congrats on getting it over with!!
That really sucks that you have to wait for your results. I'm taking Version 5 on the computer next Friday. I've been studying all day today from the ATI book- which BTW, says at the top of each practice test that on the REAL test, "there are such and such amount of questions that are extra and not graded..."
Also, last night I found another forum where people were saying that Version 5 is just like what's in the ATI guide and that there are NO Geological questions! I was like WHA?! For real? Alex, do you know what version of the test you took? I'm curious to know if that is really true...
I bet ATI will tell you that if you don't like your score, you can just take it again. I hate these testing companies...I've seen many many typos in their study guide. Ridiculous.
Thank you so much BMLEX010 the Mcgraw book it what I have been studying out of these past 3 weeks. I only want to get the ati book for the other 3 section not the science I was thinking the 5.0 version hopeing it will be similar as the 4.0but I am not sure what version will be given at the other school. I hope to find out monday which version, and if I can't take it there then I know it will be the 4.0. Which version did you all take Alex and BMLEX?
It was version 4.0. From what someone told me the versions may be somewhat similar if not the same. So don't rack your brain worrying about the version. From what I see it looks like the book stays the same no matter the version. Good luck!
Hey everyone- Just took the TEAS-5 (computer version) this morning! I am so glad I am DONE with that!!
I studied for 3 weeks (the last week very intensively) and I scored in the 92nd percentile. I honestly did not think I was going to do that well. But I am so happy!! My advice is to take as many practice tests as you can. It gets you used to the format and the types of questions they ask. Also, keep in mind that the national average is a 63%. Very low. Kind of shockingly low, if you ask me.... anyhow- good luck everyone! :redpinkhe
Congrats. What was your individual score? Was the ati book the only study guide you used and was it good for the science section. Was the practice exam in the book equivalent to the exam? sorry so many questions.
For the science stuff I studied both the ATI and the McGraw Hill book. It's pretty much reading the same thing twice, but they are written in different ways, so, you may pick up something you didn't in the other. But, if you only have the ATI book, that is all you need, really. The practice tests are good, too. I took the 2 in the book and also 2 onnline. if I were you, i would buck up the $$ to do a couple online because those were better practice than the ones in the book.
SarahBanana,
I am taking the TEAS 5.0 this Saturday and have both the McGraw-Hill and the ATI books. Can you tell me if there was the geology/rock portion to the TEAS 5.0 on your exam? I am fairly comfortable with everything else. I may go ahead and purchase the online exams based on your recommendations.
Thank you,
Kimberly
I am looking to purchase the new ATI version V prep study manual + 2 diff online practice tests and was curious if anyone has a coupon code or promotion code that I could make use of? I was told that usually schools give those out to pre-nursing students to help. Unfortunately, I was unable to get a hold of anyone at my school that could help me with that. Anything would help? Thanks in advance.
Hi Guys!Just to let you know, that McGraw Hill book is a great reference for TEAS prep. I downloaded it for free
from rapidshare dot com. (I'm trying to avoid hotlinking anything so as to avoid raising any flags!!!)
Perform a search on rapidlibrary dot com using 'Nursing Entrance' as the search keywords and it should pop up
as a .rar file. Download the file to a folder of your choice, use Winrar to 'unrar' the file so to speak...and you will
have the entire book at your fingertips in a .pdf format file. Then one may use Adobe's free .pdf reader
(or Sumatra's) and study away to your heart's content. (I posted step-by-step instructions for the computer
challenged folks amongst us.)
I sat for the TEAS yesterday, Thurs. June 11th, and earned a 84.7% overall with approx. 8 hours study.
I had never taken a computer based test before, but felt comfortable with it after about 20 min. Oh, I forgot to add that some Youtube videos are invaluable. Search Youtube user 'mrthoth' ; he also goes by the moniker
'Yossarian the Grammarian'. His videos are excellent as are his teaching abilities. Short, sweet, and to the point.
As for content, it is my opinion that the vast majority of the posters of 'TEAS' related posts on this bulletin
board are dead wrong! All of the questions are based on knowledge of the material; however, at least 2/3 of those questions are exercises in critical thinking using one's knowledge of the material. ATI has designed a format
in which they test how well one can use the knowledge that they already have, and believe me that concept
was very cleverly hidden throughout the theme of the exam.
Ciao for now,
Tim
I'm in! Class of 2011 A.D.N.
Hello,
I know that I'm very late and still don't know if the information will be useful anymore. However, I have been trying to d/l the link and everything else you said to do, but I'm having a problem downloading it. Please help, if you can.
P.S. If you can send it to me as an attachment to my email address: [email protected] that will be very helpful.
Thanks.
