Science questions.. Whew

-

hi smilesnoir,

i can totally relate to how you feel about your TEAS results. i just took the test last week and bombed the science section. :crying2:

i bought the ATI study guide and it was great for everything but science. since then, ive been looking at this site for posts about what others suggest would be a better study guide for that section. i found that most people used kaplans nursing school entrance exam book. i picked one up at barnes n nobles yesterday and am back to studying for the teas (retaking the science section in 2 weeks).

the science section was definitely not what i expected. they only had one a&p question on it! they had alot of general science and rock questions, stuff im sure a nurse would not need in the field. dont you agree? i mean, what does rock formation have to do with nursing? :uhoh3:

so, when are you planning on taking the teas again? what school are you applying for?

Hi Guys!

Just to let you know, that McGraw Hill book is a great reference for TEAS prep. I downloaded it for free

from rapidshare dot com. (I'm trying to avoid hotlinking anything so as to avoid raising any flags!!!)

Perform a search on rapidlibrary dot com using 'Nursing Entrance' as the search keywords and it should pop up

as a .rar file. Download the file to a folder of your choice, use Winrar to 'unrar' the file so to speak...and you will

have the entire book at your fingertips in a .pdf format file. Then one may use Adobe's free .pdf reader

(or Sumatra's) and study away to your heart's content. (I posted step-by-step instructions for the computer

challenged folks amongst us.)

I sat for the TEAS yesterday, Thurs. June 11th, and earned a 84.7% overall with approx. 8 hours study.

I had never taken a computer based test before, but felt comfortable with it after about 20 min. Oh, I forgot to add that some Youtube videos are invaluable. Search Youtube user 'mrthoth' ; he also goes by the moniker

'Yossarian the Grammarian'. His videos are excellent as are his teaching abilities. Short, sweet, and to the point.

As for content, it is my opinion that the vast majority of the posters of 'TEAS' related posts on this bulletin

board are dead wrong! All of the questions are based on knowledge of the material; however, at least 2/3 of those questions are exercises in critical thinking using one's knowledge of the material. ATI has designed a format

in which they test how well one can use the knowledge that they already have, and believe me that concept

was very cleverly hidden throughout the theme of the exam.

Ciao for now,

Tim

I'm in! Class of 2011 A.D.N.

Go head! Mr. Tim!

So, you can take over individual sections.

Mr. Tim. I dont know if i can do all the d/l right now.

thanks for the suggestions. I'll check into Kaplans book also. limited funds. i'll check library first!

Funny you should say this.. I did 80% on scientific reasoning.. I had wondered about knowledge testing per taking my test.

hey timnug, congrats on passing the teas!!! and thanks for the info on d/l'ing that book. ill definitely look into it.

smilesnoir, i also did very well on the scientific reasoning. it was all the other science stuff that threw me off completely. but i hope that with the kaplan book i got ($20 @ barnes n nobles) and the book timnug suggested, i should do fine this time around. (fingers crossed).

good luck!!

i need to see if the library has the kaplan book. pouty .. what is the full name of kaplan book again?

I just tried to download the file from rapidshare and it is no longer on there. It comes up as an entry but when you click download, it says it doesn't exist anymore. :throcomp:

Hi ,

I just uploaded it to rapidshare as a .pdf file.

htxp://rapidshare.com/files/244641205/NursingSchoolentrance.pdf.html

copy and paste the link and change the htxp:// to http:/

I had to do this to prevent hotlinking and getting it shut down prematurely, but in any event it can only be

downloaded 10 times...so when you're through with it...re-upload it.

Ciao for now,

Tim
