Tattoos?

Nurses Professionalism

Published

Hi guys im planning to cross of my bucketlist and its having a tattoo. Thinking of getting a sleeve one(whole arm). Wondering if I get fired or maybe have a hard time getting a job for this? I know the responsibility of it by covering during work hours, maybe wearing sleeves or wearing thermal and stuff to cover it. Any insights and opinions? Thanks!

Check your current organization's policy and realize what you do now will potentially influence your future employer's decision on hiring you. While they are trendy and fashionable now, in many people's eyes, that does not always translate well.

Consider what you'll be required by any employer as far as cover ups or even if they are allowed.

Otherwise, have fun! Pick something meaningful to you!

You have until you die to do it, right? I don't have a personal issue with tattoos, but i wouldn't want to deal with having to cover up such a large one for work. I know a few people who do it. They sweat like pigs in the summer.

It will depend on where you work. I have coworkers with sleeves or numerous visible tattoos and they aren't required to cover up.

Some places make you cover them and some don't. I've worked with someone who had full sleeves, he wore a scrub jacket year round. They make thin sleeves you can put on your arms now though so, you don't burn up.

Is this your first tattoo? You might want to try just one before deciding on an entire sleeve.

Outside of that, no one seems to care anymore about tattoos. You will get a lot of shade from coworkers if they think they're unprofessional. A topic search will show you what I mean.

edited to add: I just realized that pinayUSA likes strip clubs!

Ill check it with my boss. Probably its okay because some of my workmates have it, but not sleeve ones. Some of them have it in their deltoid and sometimes peak out of their sleeves.

Wow. I have tattoos all over my body & I'm a nurse. Not to mention there are tattoo'd doctors. So tattoos don't mean what you think they mean. Unless being a doctor is low education to you.
