Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

Specializes in Hoping to do either L&D or Trauma.

@txhusker - I am right there with ya!! OCD all the way. :lol2: Just have to finish this last week of class, 2/3 days next week and then that last week of August will be nothing but HESI studying. Sort of feel like it's the last BIG step before we can turn in our apps and then sit and (impatiently) wait . . . at least I'll have 4 classes in the fall to keep me occupied!

Practice Question - to keep you on your toes. (Sorry, I'm bored lol). What is this number. Shh, don't post answer. CMLXIII

@cross:

I know exactly What you mean lol. I don't have any classes to take this semester so I'm.basically free floating until December. (woohoo...) but I plan to spend my time studying. I'm even making myself study guides for the next 6 weeks until I take the HESI. (considering my other priorities and busy schedule, I DO have that much time on my hands...so sad..) but I.might take up a class or two just to pass the time.

@student- lol nicceeee... and good idea! lol

okay my turm for a practice question!!

45 degrees Celsius equals what in Fahrenheit ..? keep answers to yourself!

if you've had chem. these formulas should be engraved in to your brains!

Lol, awesome txhusker. I like these. Good practice.

How many ounces in a gallon?? Shhh

easy!

i found this little chart that gave some tips for trying to memorize conversions, i thought i would share..its fairly/sort of simple..>>

If you know how many...-

milliliters, multiply by 0.03 to get [fluid] ounces

liters - multiply by 2.1 to get pints

liters- multiply by 1.06 to get quarts

liters- multiply by 0.26 to get gallons

cubic meters- multiply by 35 to get cubic feet

cubic meters- multiply by 1.3 to get cubic yards [ both of which i dont think will be on the exam anyway]

fluid ounces (fl oz)- multiply by 30 to get milliliters (mL)

cups © - multiply by 0.24 to get liters (L)

pints (pt)- multiply by 0.47 to get liters (L)

quarts (qt)-multiply by 0.95 to get liters (L)

gallons (gal)-multiply by 3.8 to get liters (L)

i think most of them are there that i could think of or wrote down lol...

okay practice question!! -

9/8 (9 over 8) -(subtract) 1/8 (1 over 8)= ..... make sure to reduce  if you want to check the answer, let me know lol

LOL, that was too easy it was supposed to say 9/10.. lol (student) but heres a knocker!

4 and 1/5 x[times] 3 and 5/9 =....

quick study tip-

i know that when we take the HESI, it is supposed to be ridiculously quiet, but its not really wise to try and study in complete silence all the time, i found that if i study in a quiet environment AND noisy environment with distractions, it will teach you to ignore whats around you and focus on your material. I know some people go insane when its really quiet and they all of a sudden hear a keyboard, someone dropping a pen or pencil, coughs, sneezes, during the exam and it throws off their whole train of thought. Ive been doing it for all of my finals at school for the past few semesters and it works wonders. I just plug in my headphones and crank up the music.

if you guys have any tips on studying please share!

So random, but does anyone know if we can take a calculator when we take the HESI??

we get a pop up calculator on the screen I think.

We can't bring anything into the testing room. They provide scratch paper and pencils, and the only calculator is a simple pop up on on the computer... hope this helps

Do you guys think studying root words would help with the vocab. section of the exam?

I am so brain-fried at the moment I couldn't tell you what a root word is . . . :bugeyes::bugeyes::bugeyes:

LOL

Am beyond happy to be finished with summer session!!!! Pulled out an A (barely!) in my A&PII class which was what I really needed. That makes 3-A's and 1-C for my sciences so I *hope* that is good enough!! Eek!! :w00t:

HESI is on Sept. 1st and then three looooooooooooooong months of waiting. I know two of you personally but I sincerely hope that our AN group gets through this together!! That will be the longest 3mos ever! Now for the fun stuff!! :yeah:
