I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.
Geeze! About time! I was about to go through withdrawal lol. Love what they have done to the website!! Has anyone else bought their books yet? I'm ordering mine tomorrow, but I got my drug book and medical dictionary as a Christmas gift, I was really geekin out about it, and yes, it was all caught on video haha..can't wait to look back at that one day.... :PDo you guys know which dosage calculation book you are getting? I can't find the 5th edition one that is listed on the CID but I have read that the "medical dosage calculations for dummies" is really helpful. Only a few short weeks left until we start pulling out our hair! Exciting!!
@doodlebug- I was actually going to try and go with my jansport backpack.. I don't know how well it will work but it wouldn't hurt too try!! Lol I plan to get some sort of totebag with plenty of pockets for my nursing skills kit so I can keep it organized!
Ruth- you should check out Marshall's or Ross in the luggage section, they always have tons of rolling bags. I saw a really nice Swiss Army one not too long ago at Marshall's on clearance. If you look around I'm sure you can find a good deal. Even Walmart has them in the luggage section. NEVER buy them from office depot or places like That, they mark up the price by atleast 50% more!
I got mine on Amazon.com and it cost me $67. It is a High Sierra brand. Amazon.com: High Sierra Powerglide Wheeled Book Bag Backpack: Sports & Outdoors this is the link. I really shopped around and this was really not as expensive as some.
Hey y'all! Just thought I'd share - I just left the scrub store in Grapevine Mills where I got two pair of Cherokee drawstring cargo pants for $7.99/each. So excited! Same exact pants as at Scrubs, Etc for less than half the cost. They also have the Littmann Steths for $89.99 which is MORE than most places online. Oh and lab coats are under $20 and they have several styles. At least that's one thing off my checklist. :-)Happy New Years!
if this picture is huge i apologize! i've tried to edit it three times and it's supposed to be a thumbnail. :-//
i'm back, with more questions :-)
a) what do y'all think of this lab coat? is it too short? i love the look of it . . .
b) for those of you who have a skills class on monday (i know a lot of us have the same one) when are you going to make it up that week? i thought about emailing mr. u to see if we had to request a certain one or if we could just drop by.
finally started working on my planner tonight and it is so exciting to see it come together. tomorrow i am going to pay for my drug test and then take it tuesday, in hopes that they can get the petitions finished by friday in time to get my book gift card. i'm so anxious to get my fa and start buying books!

Since it only had 99 availabilities I went ahead and signed up. I don't honestly think it will add too much to our courseload, especially if they plan on integrating it throughout the program. Pharm is a required course up at NCTC so I was kind of surprised we didn't have a full class devoted to it at TCC. Plus, only two hours a day once a week isn't bad (if you have the time for it, of course).
Finished my last final today (YAY!) so now I can start working on getting things organized for January. I am beyond excited. :-)
