Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

So, I just called the South campus testing center and they are using version 5 now. Does anyone know if that book is in the bookstore? I guess I should call them too!

Loly, we do the CPR after we get accepted though, right?

I really think I need to go meet with an advisor at the Nursing department and see if I have everything done.

Oh, good. They should have the book at the south campus book store. A classmate purchased it from there. But, they charge like 60 bucks. You can purchase it through amazon for half the price. Mine was shipped in 1 day.

Yes, you don't have to have the CPR completed before acceptance. I'm just getting it done early so that I can check it off from my to do list.

It doesn't hurt to make an appointment to see an advisor. When you call, they will tell you that it isn't necessary but you can still make one just to make sure you are on track.

Just thought I would let you all know that if you haven't purchased the TEAS test study guide, ALL TCC campuses are out of them right now. Apparently they get their shipments from NJ and the snow has delayed the delivery. The Barnes & Noble off of University carries it though.

Please dont get ur shots at care now just go to any local health department is way cheaper there i just got mine, yeah i will love to go to tcc or weatherford i got all my preqs done im apply for fall but i apply vernon college and got accepted i will start there on Tuesd but if i will get aacepted TCC im thinking that i will try to transfer.

goodluck you guys

Yes, definitely go to the public health department. They only charge $20 a shot I think. My primary care doctor with health insurance charges more than that I believe.

Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding, my application was rejected for entrance into the Spring 2011 class. I turned in my second application packet on Tuesday for admission into the Fall 2011 class. Hopefully the next 4 months go by fast!! I'm more nervous applying this time than I was last semester.

Good Luck to the rest of you!!

Good luck Dreamer, I hope that your application will process without a flaw. Did you apply to WC this time around as well? On the bright side, you don't have to be preparing for the Teas like most of us are right now. What a pain! I took the online test through ATI and was discouraged by my score. Oh well, I'll keep at it and hope to improve for my test date.

Any tips are welcome :)

Oh, it is actually less than four months away. We should find out a couple of weeks into April right? Okay, maybe that is wishful thinking.

I haven't applied to WC yet, but I will be. I'm just waiting on my official transcript from TCC to come in the mail, and then I'll be submitting my second application to them as well. I never moved off the Alternate List at WC and I don't know how many people ended up getting moved from it to "accepted" status, but it gives me great hope that out of all the applications they received, I was good enough to be one of only 39 selected (20 accepted and 19 alternates).

I was going to retake my TEAS to try and improve my scores, but decided not to. I'm scared I will do worse the second time, and then of course those would be the scores I would have to submit. I can't really give you any advice on the test since you'll be taking a different version than what I took. But I will say this, when you're studying, don't skip over a section because you think you already know it. Study EVERYTHING! You should know that study guide like the back of your hand when you walk in to take your TEAS. And, don't rush during the test. Just breathe and take your time.

And I believe letters will go out any time between mid-April to the first week of May. So yes, in less than 4 months we should know our fate! Good Luck to you as well!!

Dreamer, I was just in this week and spoke to the nursing advisor about the Teas version. She said to me that the version they would accept is version 5. I would verify with them to ensure that you are not required to have version 5 done. Another classmate who applied last semester at WC had taken version 4 and she informed me that this application period, WC will still accept V 4 but that TCC required her to take V5. I would advise you to get someone on the phone ASAP. I'm sure you don't want surprises. Then again, you might have already spoken to them. Just trying to help out.

Thanks Loly! I actually did speak with someone, and was advised that I could use the same scores since they were less than a year old. I will call again just to make sure, and let you know.

Loly, I'm not sure if your classmate was mistaken, or just misinformed. I just heard back from Jo Nell, and she said that scores from both the 3.0/4.0 and V versions would be accepted. Those of us that have qualifying scores from the 3.0/4.0 version will not be required to retake our TEAS exams.

Dreamer, thanks for the information. I have passed the info along. I'm glad you don't have to take it again. I would have loved to be in your shoes. :)
