Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Good luck to all applying soon! I just dealt with the whole app process recently so let me know if you have questions! I start my first semester of nursing school MONDAY! :)

hey everyone! i am also applying for the fall 2011, although i will not have the fine arts/humanities course completed. i have a pretty good overall gpa 3.8/4.0 sciences, but im still kinda feeling like i wont get in because im missing that one class, do you guys think ill have a chance?

You have a great GPA. I think it will depend on the pool of applicants to determine your acceptance. If you maintain your gpa and good teas score and the pool of applicants fall below that with one class missing, you might have a chance. I've read tons of threads for the past year and half from TCC, and in the past, there were applicants with stats like yours that didn't make it in because they were missing an elective. Good Luck to you! and keep in touch thorugh out the application process :)

I also will be dropping off my application packet in a few weeks. Have you taken your TEAS test? I will be taking mine Thursday! I am freaking out about the Science/chemistry part. Keep us posted about your progress!

Hi everyone! I am also hoping to apply for TCC and WC nursing program. However, I have a couple of questions. I have started college from scratch for the first time this semester and I am hoping to have all pre-reqs completed by summer 2011. I am taking a winter mini for PE and have a full spring semester. I am hoping to enroll in summer A&PII and Micro. Is this realistic? What bonus course is the best one to consider? It is encouraging to read about everyones progress and success!:)

What about your English, Psych, Math, Speech, etc? Have you taken those classes? It probably isn't the best idea to take 2 science classes in the summer as I am sure you have heard that those classes are difficult. My opinion is that you should probably space it out a little more, espeically if you work or have kiddos.

Thank you for your response. I have taken all of the other courses this semester. When I enrolled the counselor advised me not to take a science for my 1st semester in college. Now I am cramming to get 4 sciences done in 2 semesters. I wish I would have taken at least one this semester. I can't go back now...uugh.:uhoh3: I am taking A&P I and chem in the spring. I don't work so don't have that pressure. I was in management for years and lost my job and had some really bad times. I have always wanted to go to school and become a nurse so now biting the bullet and going for it.

Wow, I have to applaud you for being brave enough to get all of the prerequisites out of the way in a matter of a year, and pursuing your dream. My only suggestion would be concerning the two sciences you're planning on taking in the summer. Summer classes are extremely fast paced, and if you're set on taking both of them so that you can submit your application in the Fall, I would suggest taking one class Summer I and the other class Summer II. That way you can still focus on just one class at a time.

Dreamer Thank you! I definitely appreciate your feedback. Are they offered both separately in the summer as you suggested? Basically, I am so driven because I was a high school drop out and had two kids by 19. I was in property management for the past 13 yrs and was laid off last year and went through some very personal difficult times. I own a home and have two teens and really need to move forward with my dream or get back to work. My fear is that if I don't do it now while I have the opportunity I may never do it. I have an amazing supportive fiancee. This semester was a success and will have all A's and realize it is a lot of hard work and dedication.

I would hope they'd offer both A&P II and Micro during Summer I and Summer II to give students more options, but of course you won't know for sure until the Summer class schedules are posted (usually around April/May if I remember correctly).

It sounds like you have done a great job managing your school work this semester. I think you'll do great in the Spring! And not to say that you won't succeed taking two sciences at the same time in the Summer, just suggesting to span them out if you can to alleviate some of the stress. I'm sure you're a big inspiration to your two teenage children too!

Yea I hope they offer plenty of science courses in the summer also. BTW congratulations on your acceptance into the program. I have read all of your progress!

Good for you. Sounds like you manage your time great and you are dedicated!

Good luck with those Sciences classes and enjoy the pre-reqs ride. It was fun but I can't wait to apply in January. So, you will be applying in the fall 2011 for the Spring of 2012 right?
