Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

It is so quiet!! Yes, I'm still bummed about this news.

And I'm pretty sure they do IVs.. My friend is in her 2nd semester and she has

I'm just dying to know if we are accepted or not!!

Yes IV starts are part of the skills check offs that you will do in Foundations. Starting in the Adult semester you will be able to do them while in clinical. I have done more than a dozen successful IV starts.

Ohhh that's exciting! :) I think IVs are probably the scariest, but most exciting part for me. Are you able to practice on each other or do they not allow that?

They do not like promote that you do it on each other but we did off campus. They have these hands to practice on. Hopefully in the new skills lab at the new campus they will have better equiptment to practive IV starts on because what we used was pretty used.

It is scary to do your first couple then its not bad at all. Practice makes perfect.

Oh cool! Well that makes me feel better. I think my big fear was having a student poke at me lol. I have really deep veins. I probably would have come home looking a mess haha. All bruised up.

Anyway, thanks for answering my question! I was just curious about it because today I was reading that some schools don't even teach how to start an IV. They have their first employer train them...? Yeah...pretty silly. I'm glad we'll actually be getting a lot of practice.

I have had some nurses where I work volunteer to let me practice IV starts on them. I work with some brave souls.

Yesterday my husband was cracking up because I was standing at the mailbox chanting " Please let there be a big envelope" over and over before I would open the mailbox. Yes, I have officially lost it.

Hahaha! I think I've basically just started saying "Of course there isn't going to be an envelope!" It seems to help my anxiety when it comes to worrying about it and I don't get disappointed when there isn't one :)

Does anyone worry when there is a small white envelope in the mailbox? I quickly look at the return address to make sure there aren't any small envelopes from TCC. I really want the big envelope. I had picked the 25th for them to be mailed out. I guess I lost that one.

Where's Loly been? She has been so quiet lately.

I picked the 22nd, I lost that one too.

Loly is around, I promise. ;)

I'm here. Just really quite from all the rumors about the different dates :)

For some reason though, I'm less anxious about the whole thing. I know that my name is either on that list or not so I can't really fuss and worry anymore.

Im less anxious and more excited. I just keep picturing myself as a nursing student. I can't wait!
