Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.
Amen lmd! Well said :) I know this may sound horrible, but I have come to realize that most places are full of many incompetent or rude people. I suppose that is why I'm never happy allowing someone else to do something for me...I feel for it to get done right, I have to do it myself. I have a feeling some of you may have that same OCD personality :)
I definitely feel that same way. Especially with stuff that matters a lot to me..
AND those rude people, which we encounter almost everywhere, probably aren't happy with where or what they are doing with their own life. :) that's why I think most people are so negative.. Like what were dealing with..
Hey Pina, I too called yesterday and some rude person answered the phone. She raised her voice a little when I asked if she knew when applications were going to go out. She said that they haven't even made the selections yet and that applications will go out sometime in May. I'm not going to call anymore! Like Loly said, I'll just believe it when I see the envelope in my mailbox! I accepted a position for Cook Children's Hospital last week! My dream is to someday work for the hospital's NICU department. I am so excited to start!!! Is anyone else currently working for a hospital?
We probably spoke to the same person! I will believe it when I get the letter too! Crazy crazy haha
From what I understand the reason for the back and forth has to do with the new campus. None of the professors have been able to see the building so they are concerned about space. Plus if they accept more than 100 this application period they have to make sure they have clinical locations for everyone. I know I have talked to professors who are just as frustrated as yall are about the process and the unknown.
As far as rude people. They are everywhere. The ladies who answer the phones probably get the same questions tons of times a day. Not saying that excuse is ok to be rude to people but I know it happened while I was waiting also. The wait is almost over.
TCC program is one of the best and you can not let a front office person who just answers phones or looks at paperwork determine how you feel about the program itself. TCC is VERY highly recognized in the medical community.
Good luck to everyone
Thanks Txmommy, I think the rudeness got to everyone, plus the stress, summer classes beginning and not knowing what to do for the summer, etc...
Yes, I think we are all on edge. It's hard to have done all we can, and now just sit back and accept that it's out of our hands. Especially for those of us who will have to retake courses and take a different entrance exam if we don't make it in this time around. The wait is one thing, but the fact that there are so many factors up in th eair still just adds to the stress.
Hey Txmommy, I have a question for you since you are already in the program at TCC :) I was wondering if you have already been able to perform IVs or not? I thought I saw under the Nursing Skills class that you have to do them. I know a lot of states and schools are different when it comes to practicing them, so I was just wondering what TCC's rules are. Do they allow us to practice on each other?

I'm frustrated too but keep in mind that they won't be your professors or anything to do with the program except paperwok stuff.. The reason why TCC is such a great program is because of th actual program.. Not the ppl that work in the office
