Hello to everyone! I'm brand new to this site, but already finding lots of great information. Are any of you familiar with or applying to Tarrant County College ASN program? I'm in the dreaded wait until the first part of May. I took my TEAS exam last weekend and did really well so I'm hoping for the best! I look forward to getting to know each of you better.
Mom to 2, Do you think you should tell the school that you are scheduled for Micro this summer ? It may help give you a better chance. Being an alternate, and with your high Teas score, I think that you'd be one of the first called. But Katy is right, to be on the alternate list without Micro, is great.
I would bet that we'll see you there !!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you !!!
P.S. You should be really proud of yourself, I haven't met anyone with a science left to complete who even made the alternate list. Way to go!!!
Thanks, I really appreciate that. I called the school this afternoon and they told me that the alternates are not on an ordered list but just in a general pool. What??? That makes no sense at all. I scheduled an adisving appointment on campus for tomorrow and we will see what I find out then. Surely they can tell me if I'm at the top or at the bottom. They did tell me that they mailed 20 alternate letters.
Just be sure they have your cell phone number!!!
I was an alternate too - so I made plans to take a few more courses towards my BS and resigned myself to applying for the following semester.
I got called AFTER classes started to go in and catch up with the class! I was so shocked. I had to drop all my classes and re-register!
15 years later - it's made no difference. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
I went to another school, not to TCC.
In the long range plan, if you dont end up going in in the Fall, I know it seems like a long delay but really it is only 3-4 mos. 10 years from now that will be nothing. It is so hard though to keep that in perspective when all you want to do is GET IN THERE!
I will hope for the best for ya!!
Hey there....
I've been busy reading all the letters of information in my packet. I've read everything at least twice to make sure that I've got everything down. Along with the congrats letter, there is alot of information regarding how to prepare for the upcoming semester. Where to go, what to wear, where to meet, etc. A letter about the importance of knowing your medication math (dimensional analysis) with sample problems and where to go for help, etc. Were to get our uniforms and name badges. Information on how to become a TNSA member, nursing fees, etc. Dates that registration, CPR training, and drug testing begin. There will also be a critical thinking exam on May 16th. We will find out our schedule during orientation.
There will be a few chapters from 3-4 text books that I need to read before the start of the semester. This is to prepare the student for the first day of theory, clinical, and skills. It's not going to be easy.....I can tell you that right now !! Everything seems very thorough. I'm very glad that I'm getting into this school, because I've heard the staff is very supportive and wants the student to succeed.
Momto2, please stick close to your phone. I hope to see you at orientation. Oh, by the way, every one has until May 1st to submit their acceptance letter.
1. Many people apply to more than one school (I know I applied to 4 myself and was placed on the alt list at 3 of them - the one I was accepted to was my last choice and would have necessitated a move and a divorce which I was contemplating at the time) so TCC will not be everyones first choice school.
2. Life circumstances can change during the time between the application and acceptance. People get pregnant, spouses divorce or get transfer orders etc.
3. Getting the actual acceptance letter is shock enough for a couple of folks who kind of go "ACK! I dont think I want to do this afterall!"
So between all of that - you really do have a good shot!
See, the planner in me is thinking - what if they call me at the last minute, I'll be so behind already!
I have a feeling that this is going to be a long summer! I need to just let it go and realize that what is meant to be will be, but that is MUCH easier said than done.
Katy - when you were an alternate were you on the fall list or spring?
