Tarrant County College Fall 2014 Nursing Program

Published

This topic was created for those who will be applying to Tarrant County College's Fall 2014 Nursing Program. The dialog is open for those who have never applied and those who have applied multiple times. Let's discuss our frustrations, stats, best practices for study and the HESI, where you are at achieving your goal, and if you plan to apply anywhere else.

I have applied and was turned down 3.50 Science, 90 HESI, 970 Critical thinking (for another nursing program). I was knocked down, but I refuse to stay there.

Let's talk!

I'm sure, just being paranoid. She did go through it, sort of. I'm so impatient! LOL

When you all turned in your application, did you got a good feedback? Any comments from the counselor?

The lady I turned my application in to said I was competitive. Given the number of seats and method of selection per the application... I took that with it a grain of salt and will not stress about it. I worked hard to get to this point...we all did and I am proud of that accomplishment and refuse to let it stress me.

I was also told by one of the testers that the science will be on it the next time around

I wish we could know how many people applied, or maybe not :/. not sure if it would make my anxiety worse!!!

Yeah we all can't get enough information to satisfy us

look like this semester is not competitive as previous 2 semester ago. I will be applying with a 4.0gpa and 81 on my hesi score! good luck to all. I was wondering to all the people on this forum blog will like to post their gpa and hesi score. i think the beginning of may is when they let us know if we get accepted or not, the reason i say that is because i been lurking around previous year and last semester when i applied it was the first week.

Hello. I think most of us have posted our stats. Mine is 3.75, 90 Hesi.

I have a friend in the program now, and they told me the same thing; that is application period isn't as competitive as prior ones. They said that the overall scores are lower! I sure hope that's true!!

i think if you have a 3.5 and a 93 above your chance of getting in is okay or at least an alternate. the nursing advisor was really nice and she said was if you have a:

4.0gpa is a 100 percent on the hesi

3.75gpa is a 90 percent on the hesi

3.5 is a 80 percent on the hesi.

so let say you have a 4.0 and a 85 on the hesi then you would take the 4.0 as 100 and a 85 on the hesi that would total 185 divide by 2 would give you a 92.5 which is a good score. She said if you have a 90 and above then you are competitive. i hope this help you guys and later nurse that lurk around =D

MORE INFO.. One of my friend apply last semester said to me was they really looking at the Vocabulary section if you score high on that section than most part that really good. what i readed from previous semester they said the tie breaker from getting in is the math portion, if you score high in that section then your chance beating the other person is good let say me and another applicant apply i have a 98 and she had 96 then they would take me over her. but again this is some theory not 100 percent accurate. but as far as the gpa hesi score goes im sure that pretty acurate. Anyone one of yall want to create a facebook group and when we get accepted let go have a drink and meet up?

Hi HNV515,

The counselor actually told me a little differently.

She said that

4.0 gpa is a 100

3.75 gpa is a 95

3.5 is a 90

So lets say you have a 3.75 gpa meaning 3A's and 1B

Each A is of course worth 100

Each B is worth 80

So 3x100=300 1x80=80

300+80=380

380/4= 95

Then they tahe your hesi lets say a 90 on the hesi

95+90=185

185/2=92.4 with a 3.75 and a 90 on the Hesi
