This topic was created for those who will be applying to Tarrant County College's Fall 2014 Nursing Program. The dialog is open for those who have never applied and those who have applied multiple times. Let's discuss our frustrations, stats, best practices for study and the HESI, where you are at achieving your goal, and if you plan to apply anywhere else.
I have applied and was turned down 3.50 Science, 90 HESI, 970 Critical thinking (for another nursing program). I was knocked down, but I refuse to stay there.
Let's talk!
I feel it is a toss because I had a 3.5 and 90 hesi, core complete and not even waitlisted while others were. I really wish they made the ranking system easier to follow and understand.... Like a point system that we are aware of and not just guess at.
i think if you have a 3.5 and a 93 above your chance of getting in is okay or at least an alternate. the nursing advisor was really nice and she said was if you have a:4.0gpa is a 100 percent on the hesi
3.75gpa is a 90 percent on the hesi
3.5 is a 80 percent on the hesi.
so let say you have a 4.0 and a 85 on the hesi then you would take the 4.0 as 100 and a 85 on the hesi that would total 185 divide by 2 would give you a 92.5 which is a good score. She said if you have a 90 and above then you are competitive. i hope this help you guys and later nurse that lurk around =D

What is a 4.0 gpa is a 100 percent on the hesi? I do not get this... This is what I understood, just an example, if you have let's say a 4.0 gpa then conversion for that in percent is a 100. 50% of 100 is 50. Then you have a 90% Hesi, 50% is 45. So if you add 50 and 45 then you get a score of 95% for both gpa and hesi. 3.75 conversion to percent is 93.75 or 94. 3.50 is 87.5%. This is what I think... Just basic math.
Amen! We won't have very long as they usually notify before the announced date. I refuse to stress but I am wondering why the application pool seems to be not as competitive this semester. Is it a "Fall" thing or are people giving up?
yall are making it too complicated lol. Though this is all really nice to know. I agree with nursing hopeful would be nice if they were more clear on how they rank us or at least have it posted online.
I agree! Let's not debate on how they may or may not rank us, instead, let's just pray that whatever method they use; we all get in!!! Lol I think they always say it's easier to get in the fall semester... Also, people may be giving up... It's hard work to get into this program. Some people may not have the energy to keep retaking classes... I almost didn't. I had a point where I almost have up... But here I am.. Trying for a second time to get into this program. I'm not gonna stress over it. My time will come.

Im not saying your wrong but that doesnt make sense.. cause hesi and gpa is 50% each so how does that convert to hesi score if you score low. cause if you make a c on a class that still put u high on gpa. so i think is if they do 3.75 is equal to a 90 abd 3.5 is a 80 and 4.0 is a 100 percent.
