This topic was created for those who will be applying to Tarrant County College's Fall 2014 Nursing Program. The dialog is open for those who have never applied and those who have applied multiple times. Let's discuss our frustrations, stats, best practices for study and the HESI, where you are at achieving your goal, and if you plan to apply anywhere else.
I have applied and was turned down 3.50 Science, 90 HESI, 970 Critical thinking (for another nursing program). I was knocked down, but I refuse to stay there.
Let's talk!
Question:
Was anybody else told about all the incomplete applications that were turned in? Also that some of those people may have been given until Friday to turn in whatever is missing....
Oh! I have a 3.5 and 90... Same thing I applied with last time and didn't get in, but thought I would try again anyway. I'm currently retaking one of my B's for an A.
I hear about the incomplete apps when I turned my app in a couple weeks ago. It's strange because I thought apps had to be turned in IN person. hmmmmm. I feel if it can't be updated by today that the app should be disqualified.

I agree with you both! Today is the deadline... There's no "Grace Period"! Either turn it in today or wait until next time! Why would someone turn in an incomplete application anyway?!
Also, I asked why they wanted the picture upfront instead of at orientation, and she said it makes their paperwork easier... What do you guys think about turning in the picture?

If that was the case you would think they would ask for all the paper work up front.
I don't know about the pic thing making things easier... especially with the other documentation they want after acceptance into the program. The picture thing was just suspect to me but you have to play the game in order to get in or at least try to.

Yeah that would be too easy for them to rule people out Elavette. I was told that the science will be on there next time around. I think it was one of the workers at the testing center who told me that, when I signed up for it this semester.
Well, hopefully I get in this time around so I don't have to worry about taking the HESI again..
Good Morning Ladies!
I was so excited to join! I started reading the latest posts about the app and to be honest I was one of those that they gave til Friday. I was on top of everything I had to turn in and went in a couple of weeks ago the person I spoke to was not the main counselor they said I had everything ready to go and even emphasized on the confusion of the website about the vaccines asked to take a peek at mine to make sure all in order... I received an OK after my HESI yesterday went to turn in my app and the main counselor said that even though I had all my vaccines I needed one titer because it wasn't recent enough. So she gave me till Friday to get an updated vaccine or titer by Friday since I was given the ok the first time. Not sure why the reasons that others got extensions. I am going to take care of it TODAY!
Hey! Thanks for chiming in on this! So, really, it's their fault? I didn't know that the titers had a timeframe on them..interesting..Well, that makes sense... they gave you wrong information.. that wouldn't have been right for them not to give you an extension. I bet other people had the same issue.

I turned in my app today. 91.5 on my HESI and 3.5 science GPA. I'm going to retake my 2 B's this summer if I don't get in. I'm really bummed about my stats, but we'll see... Come on May!!
