I am a bit jealous of everyone getting to go to Trinity campus. From talking with clinical professors it will be amazing.

I'm eager to see it. I've not been to the Trinity campus at all and am hoping the TRE station is close... I'd love to have the extra reading time on the train from Arlington (well, I LIVE in Arlington ,which doesn't believe in mass transit... boo, hiss. But I'm 4 miles from the Bell St. TRE Station.)

Hello Everyone! I am also a nursing student newbie starting January. Here is my schedule:

Mon&Wed- 7am-1pm Clinical @ Kindred Hosp. in Fort Worth

Tues- 8am-12noon Theory

Thurs- 1:30pm-4:30pm Skills Lab

I do have a question regarding our schedule. From what I recall, we will not be going to our clinical sites for the first 3 weeks of school. Instead, we will go to Skills Lab during our Clinical hours. My question is, do we still attend our scheduled Skills Lab also for a total of 15 hours a week of Skills? I am so confused =(. I was trying to catch everything that was brought up in orientation, however, there was just so much information to digest. Please correct me if I am wrong about our schedule. Thank You so much in advance.:)

Welcome Nicole, yes we would have that many hours in skills but, we will be utilizing the different periods of times for different skills. Skills will consist of specific patient care knowledge and technique, whereas the three weeks for clinical will cover making beds, hospital etiquette, basically what to expect in clinicals and how to deal with it.

Xdjp006,

Thank you for clarifying the schedule. It makes alot of sense to me now.

Hi everyone. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!! :)

hello all, I was wondering if anyone found a place with reasonably priced, quality uniforms. I was wanting some with scotch guard so that they would sustain through nursing school. Also what kind of shoes has anyone found, I was looking at some all white lacrosse shoes. They just need to be all white and leather right

I went to Life Uniform on Cooper Street. They have a good selection of the teal scrub pants and white tops. I decided to go with the Nurse mates shoes. I tried on the shoes that they had there and the Nurse Mates were the most comfortable to me. The shoes just need to be all white, leather with no open toe or heal. That leaves it wide open to whatever you are most comfortable in. I think comfy shoes are going to be a must. :)

Since I have to have a tall plus size, I'm ordering mine online (Amazon). And I'm going with a New Balance shoe because those fit my feet the best, I use them for walking/exercise. They have a thin line of blue around the logo, but I'll paint it white if it's a problem.

Does anyone know how we're supposed to pick out the Diag & Lab, nursing care plan, and drug reference books? Everything I have says your preference, but I don't know enough to choose.

I have no idea either, when I am ready to purchase in a couple of weeks I was going to go by the tnsa office and try to find someone comparable to my learning style and see what they used.

The drug books and care plan books are very helpful to have. I never bought the daignosis and lab values book. But I used the other 2 all the time and still do.

Drug books it does not really matter, I use the Nursing Care Pland by Gulanick/Myers because Mr. Ume my foundations professor recommended the book and compared to others it was the easiest to use. I use the Lippencott Drug book but the Davis drug book and like it as well.

Next week will be the last week the TNSA office will be open until the spring.
