are any of you using, have used, or planning on using a tape recorder for you classes and what size do you have? how has it worked out for you? i am planning on using one.
welcome and how thoughtful of you to share with your class mates!originally posted by ecbusybeewe're allowed to record the lectures. that's why i bought a digital (tapeless) voice recorder (pogo ripflash 128m - $150 @ amazon). it's capable of recording 8 hrs straight in 1 session. when i get home, i then transfer the audio files directly to my computer for playback. i even uploaded the whole lecture to the internet for my classmates to play the audio - online. the digital file is encoded in mp3 format. the recording quality is very good. hope this helps...

Hi Stepanie,
You may send me an email at [email protected] if you need more info about the digital voice recorder. I'll let you listen to a sample audio file that I recorded in class. Our AC in the classroom is quite noisy but it still picks up my professor's voice acceptably clear. I put the recorder in the front seat (center) . With this recorder, you can fast forward, rewind, pause just like any regular cd player. You can even use this electronics device as mp3 player to play songs that you download from the internet. Isn't it cool? I think it's reasonably cheap considering the features. My classmates download my audio files from the internet and upload to their portable mp3 player for playback, some of them just use their home computer.

I just use one of those little mini size ones and hook headphones up to it when I listen.
The headphones block out any other noise going on, and I can listen with ease to my lecture again!
I like it, but if I'm trying to take notes again....it takes soooo long. That's my downfall, so I usually highlight in my book while I'm going also...
debbie, i received a hand sized sony cassette-corder with speed control and 90 minutes tapes as an early birthday present. i am going to give it a try for the first semester along with taking hand written notes and hightlighting the book. the mini-taper recorder i have, does not work good.originally posted by debbie5as stated in another thread, i used mine. it is a sony. uses microcassettes 90 min. i found that i needed to sit in the front of the class(we had a large group lecture). i plan to use it again for a&p. great to refer back to.

mine is equipped to add an external mic.
I don't like re-listening to the whole lecture because I rarely have the time. So what I do during the lecture is I make sure I listen really well and anytime there is something I don't quite understand or did not quite hear then I put a star in that particular section of my notes that way when I come home I can rewind to that particular section and listen to the sections that I feel I did not understand. It works wonderfully for me.
