Taking the nclex-rn for the 5th....

Posted

Before I begin I would like to say congrats to those who took boards for the first time and passed and those that are retakers and have passed:-) December will be the 5th time that I will take the nclex and words really can not describe how I feel at this point, except that I remaining positive and I continue to pray daily. I pray God willing this will be my final and last time sitting in front of that computer. I love this site because it offers great resources, advice and of course encouragement. A good friend from allnurses helped with a study plan and I am following that daily. I feel very confident this time. Before I was anxious and I have major testing anxiety, so much that my PCP prescribe me a beta blocker which I never ended up taking the fourth time I took boards.

I have tried many resources and I can honestly say that different sources work for different people so I am not here to say one is better than the other. I pray morning and night that I can see my dream of becoming and RN. God is good and with much study I will pass the beast lol. A few scriptures keep me going during my study regimen: Mark 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in pray believe that you have received and it will be yours. Phili 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

I am studying daily with no time off just little breaks and I sticking with my studying schedule as if my life depended on it lol.

For those of you retaking the nclex, we can do this! We can conquer this test and encourage others all at the same time, study hard and always remember to pray because he hears all prays no matter what we have to believe. Good luck to everyone taking boards and God Bless.

PS any advice for up and coming weeks before boards?

heloo,,,first of all...id like to say that your positive attitude is so inspiring,,,:)way to go..be sure of yourself..u sound prepared,,,go for it,,god be with you..i will surely say a prayer for you,,,god bless:)

I have taken my NCLEX-RN 3 times and I will be studying to take it a 4th time......we are both alike in the fact that we have super bad anxiety issues. I also got a scrip from my PCM for a beta-blocker to help with my anxiety and it def. helped last time I took the test but I had only had the scrip for 2 days before so I know I wasnt able to get the full effect from the med. I am waiting for my ATT so I can schedule to test again.....good luck and we can do this!!!!!!

Best wishes for your success.

I think I might go ahead and try the beta blocker, it's like when I'm front of that computer my mind goes blank because I'm so nervous but lately I been doing a lot of praying and breathing techniques. Good luck on your next take. We are not quitters we can conquer this test! I pray for your success. God bless

No I'm not in a study group...just studying on my own. What books are you studying?

Um based on marlene hurst(hurstreview) its really a bad idea to take beta blockers before the test. Probably thats the reason why ur having mental block.

Sorry but I beg to differ. Like I mention in my post I never actually took the beta blocker so the "mental block" that you say im having im pretty sure it isnt due to that. Its probably and mostly likely due to my anxiety, which I am working on daily with prayer and relaxations techniques. God is good he hears my prayers and he will help relieve some of the anxiety when the time comes for me to take boards.

I am using Kaplan, saunders and Lacharity....

Kaplan, Saunders and Lacharity......

Those are good resources...also try frye's 3300 a friend on here told me about book and it's really good, I also used exam cram and made index cards as I studied and did questions. My big day is coming soon ill keep u updated! Good luck and God bless.

My recommendation , kaplan for Q and A, Hurst and saunders for content. The nclex questions has the same difficulty with kaplan q and a.. Good luck guys.

Update:Finished reading exam cram, frye's 3300 and lacharity as of last week...now I am reviewing the flashcards that I made and also doing 100 questions a day, till the day before my test day (which is next week!) So far so good. I pray daily for God to decrease my anxiety and help me to retain the knowledge and apply my critical thinking skills accordingly when the test day arrives. Good luck everyone. Please keep me in your prayers:)

Hello everyone, I am happy to have found this website, I took my nclex-rn for the 5th time today, and feel so insecure, i answered all 265 questions, in about 5 hours. By the time i finished, i felt completely drained and with a huge headache. Now i have mix feelings, I've read a lot of posts of people that answered all 265 questions and have passed, only a couple of persons said they didn't make it.

The previous times, the most i answered was 163, and when i got my results it was frustrating to find out that in all of the content the result was "near the passing score".

What i did different this time, is that i focused only on 1 review curse, that was Kaplan, i studied for 3 months, and i think i did better this time, at least i know that if the computer didn't shut down, i was still in the game.

I pray that the results are positive, but i guess i have to wait since California doesn't offer the quick results.

Congratulations to all whom have passed, and let's keep praying for a passing score!
