Taking CNA class with immature classmates..UGHHHHH

Published

Hello everyone,

I have to vent. I am currently taking a CNA class and a lot of the women in my class are very immature. They laugh when someone does something wrong and they make sarcastic comments if someone asks a "silly" question. It is so annoying. I did not expect my class to be this way. For some reason, I thought everyone was going to be mature and serious. My classmates are taking our lessons lightly. Everything is a joke to them. Did anyone else have this experience?? THIS IS SO ANNOYING. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

I don't see anything funny about someone trying to learn and making mistakes along the way. If someone does something incorrectly, you're supposed to show them the right way to do it, not laugh. Sounds like insecurity or boredom to me.

The most stupid and annoying classmate I had in CNA training was a 23 yr. old woman, married with a son. She did the most idiotic thing I've ever seen done! We were watching a video on CPR & BLS taught by a young male paramedic. The lights were turned off while we all were watching the video, when he and the nurse instructor went to nurse's office to get some paperwork. That's when this idiot girl (who'd been acting flirtatious with the paramedic before class, even though he clearly didn't respond to her advances) took Resuscitation Annie off the table and replaced it with HERSELF!!

She laid there sprawled out on the table, all quiet, and then sat up real fast and acted like she was going to kiss him when the medic came back in the room near the table. He acted mad & disgusted; the nurse got real angry & told her off. The rest of our class just uttered sighs of disgust and rolled our eyes.

I'm old school and have never seen such behavior. The nurse told several of us older students that each new class she taught was seemingly getting worse with time because of the attitudes and behavior of the younger generation.

Kudos to that nurse for teaching, when the poor woman has to put up with such idiotic behavior and rudeness.

I don't know how my instructor puts up with me class. Some of them are cool. But a lot of them like to interrupt her with foolish silly stories. And I don't know what it is with this new generation, but a lot of them like to curse. These girls cuss at the teacher like that's normal. I feel like a foreigner in a new country in this class.

It's funny I saw this post tonight.....I am not in a CNA class yet....but we were having dinner at a Vietnamese soup restaurant close to the local UNI...and it was packed with students.......

They were so loud and obnoxious....I couldn't help thinking this is the generation I will be in class with???? Oh dear Lord...."and like...omg....i can't believe she wore THAT...."

It makes me wonder if I will be able to hold my tongue. I tend to speak up for the people getting picked on......and have no issue telling rude, immature people how rude they are..... I couldn't imagine texting while in class....or just chatting with your friends......what has happened to respecting your teachers??

They need some good old fashioned disipline. When I started elementary, they still had the "strap"....belt, or more commonly you would get rapped on the hands with a ruler if you misbehaved. I think the problem with this generation is...they didn't have any of that starting school.....teachers couldn't disipline anymore....and in team activities "everyone is a winner" attitude no matter what.....I think this is why they have that who cares attitude.....

We have disagreed with our sons soccer team cuz they wanted all kids to get a ribbon (even tho' they lost)......how are kids going to try harder to do their best if they get the prize anyway???? Something really needs to change in the school system.

I hope the class goes quickly for you...and you pass with flying colors!!

To te OP:

CNA classes take anyone with basic reading skills and a pulse. It is also short

enough to attract some real ... shall we say ... socially challenged individuals.

My class in 2005 had a few, but no where near some of the stories above. My

instructor actually flunked out two folks for being nuisances. Especcially the

ghetto-fabulous obese lady with long nails in the back that would interupt

the instructor every sentence and the skinny, older 50s former fast food

cook that cussed every other word. (well, actually that one slid thru)

Just remember..

- CNA is short. This to wil pass.

- The "problem" folks probably conduct themselves that same way

professionally on the job. What works in the street and in fast food

will not fly at a hospital or good LTC/LTAC. They will be stuck in lower-rung,

low-paid facilities NH/ LTCs and may never be able to do better. I have seen

this as agency.

Good luck.

I stick up for people being picked on as well and I have done it already. There is this girl in my class who's having problems with the Blood Pressure skill and for some reason the youngins in my class think that is so funny. I told them they were being rude. I have befriended this girl because I don't like to see people get picked on. These young girls are so immature. And the sad thing is they all have kids. I'm so shocked that MOTHERS would actually pick on someone knowing it could possibly happen to their kids. I don't know what it is with this generation. They're loud, obnoxious, rude, disrespectful and annoying. Sometimes I want to scream like UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH while they're talking.

You know what's bothering me the most?? The most annoying LOUD ghetto girl in my class, has the highest grade!! UGHHHHHHH. I just wish my instructor was like your instructor. My teacher doesn't discipline her class.

Yep, it's kinda sickening.

We had two teenagers in our class. Texting all the time. Giggling to each other. Late to class. Luckily the teacher threw one of them out, and the other has really stepped up to the plate now that the bad influence is gone.

It's really sad that these young people do NOT know how to behave. I'm old enough that I would talk to them at lunch time and tell them that their behavior was inappropriate, and that it was time to grow up and act like adults. One of them listened, the other did not. The young one that listened is still in the class, and always wants to be my partner, asks me questions at breaks, and has really latched on to me. I think so many of the young people need someone who will be firm with them, give them honest direction and not be afraid of "offending " them or something. Kids, even teens, need someone who won't put up with that crap. I'm glad my teacher didn't put up with it long.

The problem person in my class was in her 40s.

WOW,that is unusual. usually in the 40's we have learned how to behave! :p:banghead:I certainly wouldnt put up with that if I were an instructor!

I think its their maturity level really. I'm 19 & I would never act like that. I'm paying for this class, why go there & not pay attention? Its gonna hurt me in the long run, not the instructor..they have their degree already.

I totally agree. I never acted like that at 18, and wouldn't have dared. Some people just don't take life seriously. They will learn the hard way!

I happen to come across this thread by looking through my previous posts, and I thought it was only fair I give you guys an update!! How quickly things had turned in the class. The cliques were broken up and people were forced to grow up. So the main bully in the class was kicked out. She missed three days of clinical so she was told she couldn't walk with us. The second bully was not valedictorian like she thought she was going to be. She started crying in class! I was so surprised because this girl acted so tough. Her follower, the wanabe, started being ignored by the first two bullies so she had to latch onto somebody else. She started being nice to the same people she laughed and talked about. It was crazy how things turned out. So people people, always remember, you have to be nice to people!!
