Taking CNA class with immature classmates..UGHHHHH

I can relate. A couple of the people in my class didn't take things seriously when we were learning them (like performing skills) & it got on my nerves! I wonder if they're going to be successful in the nursing profession because their classroom behavior was less than professional. I think you shouldn't worry about them. Just do your best & don't let them distract you :)

I didn't let it distract me last week. But it got to me today. Two women were laughing while a young lady was trying to do the blood pressure skill. It took her a while to grasp it and for some reason these two women thought it was funny. It was so annoying. I felt my face turning red because I was so upset. For some reason I thought it was going to be older women in this class. I didn't expect to see young girls. They are so immature. How can someone concentrate with one girl laughing at every mistake, another girl looking at you with a mean face because you're "not getting it" and another girl making sarcastic remarks. I have to deal with this immaturity for another week. I'm praying it goes by fast.

I'm sure these girls who think they know it all will fall flat on their face during clinicals. Its one thing when you're practicing in the classroom, but once you get out into the real world, its totally different! My instructor told us a couple months ago in another class, one student was doing well in class but when they got to the clinical part & was asked to take a resident's bp, they didn't even know how to properly put on the cuff! Then once they got the cuff on, they pumped it up, deflated it & told the inscructor "OMG I can't hear anything!!" That's because they didn't use their stethoscope! :smackingf

Sometimes I feel like I'm a different breed of the human race. I have compassion and I genuinely care about people. There are some mean people in this world.

What a time to stumble upon a thread like this... I had the same problem today. There is one particular girl in the class who acts immature if other students don't catch onto something fast enough or do a new skill fast enough in clinicals. She watches her fellow students like a hawk, points and does a very low giggle if a mistake is made/something is forgotten. She chit chats about it with whoever is next to her and makes critical remarks.

Considering she was the only one in our class who failed the CPR exam and the only one who did poorly on most of the theory, I don't think she has the right to criticize anyone. None of us criticized her for getting low grades and not knowing how to pronounce half of the words in our textbook. I think she owes the rest of us the same respect we gave her when she experienced difficulties learning.

I hoped there would be better behavior from a woman with 3 children but I guess age and motherhood don't guarantee maturity.

The immature women in my class are all mothers!! It's shocking. I can't believe these women have children behaving in the manner that they do. I wish my instructor would have better control over the class. She allows people to be bullied. I don't understand people that laugh or get annoyed over someone not grasping a skill. How are these women going to be with an unruly or cognitively impaired patient.

In class there are 2 different kind of students; the attention seekers and the self reserved. It takes all efforts for one to seek attention,and annoying others might be what they can do best. I have been in youa shoes,during my course and I know how annoying it is when you give your all,only to attend class with the jokers, who behave like they came for vacation.

As long as you know what you want in life,don't mind them,switch sitting position if you can,give them a blind eye.Mean stares/looks from people won't kill you.During my cna course,the class was kind of divided into 2 groups the jokers, and those who were serious, they hadly talked with us,and laughed when this student wanted to finish all her practical perfectly(e.g. bed sheets well aligned).Whatever bond they have is just class friendship,after the course everyone will be on their own,thats when reality will strike each one of them.

As for you, Good luck and take heart,4 hard work conquers all.In life you have 2 kinds of friends those who are there to build you, and those who are out there to destroy you. Choose your friends wisely.

when i took my cna course there were a few people who were, to say the least not up for the job. i wouldnt worry about it, things wont be so funny once they get a job and are expected to use these skills...esp on there state test! wont be so funny then!!haha one girl in my class had a very bad atitude and didnt take anything serously and she was failed by the instructor.i wasnt too upset to see her go...anyways it wont last forever!!! good luck with everything! :)

OH boy....we had a few young inmature girls in my class also,let me tell ya,actually one girl especially was down right rude and disresectful to the instructor,ok I'm gonna sorta" brag" for a sec. I was never late,never missed,always did my homework,and made the highest gpa IN CLASS.....etc..etc..... she was the EXACT OPPOSITE... fast forward to state board exams....I failed the clinicals the first time(ugh) and this girl passed,omg! I WAS HER PATIENT AND WATCHED HER MAKE NUMEROUS MISTAKES,but somehow she passed! talk about aggravating. thats when it really bugs ya! grrrrrrrr////oh well I guess the moral of my story was,dont be shocked if the goof-balls actually pass:icon_roll:bugeyes: goodluck to ya(btw,I passed the skills part my 2nd time) guess my nerves wasnt as bad. :yeah:

the ones sucking up to the instructor are usually the ones who are rude and think they know it all and are out to impress.in all aspects of classroom behavior..just a opinion

lol.....the RUDE ones in our class certainly didnt "SUCK UP" to the instructors,matter of fact noone in our class..."sucked up" to anyone. some just obeyed the few very simple rules ,others chose not to. Michelle

ps. the state exams were given by total strangers that were sent from"state";)
