It's easy if you have a good practice skills on the floor! I a, AnCc med surg board certified easier than NCLEX

My manager encourages all the RN's to sit for at least one certification, but it's not mandatory. I will get a 1.00/hr raise and reimbursed for the test if I pass, so that's good motivation, and the studying has been a a good review of some of the aspects of M/s nursing I don't see everyday.
When I applied for my current job as a clinical educator, there were many other applicants. All the applicants had their masters degree, but I was the only one certified in professional nursing development. My manager said that's what made me a better suited candidate for the role.
I chose to get certified for several reasons: getting better skills in my specialty, being a role model, and enhancing my knowledge and skill level. I did not qualify for a raise because I am a salarly employee, but our staff nurses get $1/hr for each cerification and they qualify for our nursing career ladder to get $4/hr more.
I highly recommend any nurse to get certified.
