This is an opportunity also for the system to be look into...Do not fret take this as a learning experience most of the time mistakes happen when we rush and feels like we are running out of time especially for new nurses...focus on every task in front of you and again do not rush take time to think...it's okay multi tasking is a skill you learn over time..Cheer up...Reflect on what factors that contributed to this error and this will improve your nursing practice.

It's true that Duke offer the lowest pay rate in the triangle despite of market salary adjusment. Dollars is not always the priority for some you have to find which best fit your needs work life balance benefits schedule experience and working environment.Good luck.

Hi Jane82 forgive yourself and for every nursing heartaches consider it as your learning pearls.You will experience more and more situations like this where you feel like you could have done something differently.Don't be hard on yourself you sound so concerned and caring be strong.Patients in the hospital might be sicker and demanding but guess what you won't be alone.I always have compassion with new nurses coz I have been there.Trust me it will get better and you will get more skilled as you move forward.

Take 2 week time off refresh your mind and change is not bad either.Its better to see what other LTC's can offer you.I love geriatrics too but the pay is so low that I can't sustain to pay my bills.

Don't lose hope see a dermatologist I have bad acne too.Bad in a way they are scarring and can be painful finally I landed to a dermatologist who prescribe me something that works.Don't give up.I had to change my previous dermatologist coz her treatments seem to be common and they were not effective.

I am novice to field nursing and so far I am liking it I've been working as Med-Surg RN for 7 years and field nursing is way a lot better less stress more autonomy and it's just awesome I am just hoping it won't close down.Best of luck and I believe if you keep wondering it's worth the experience.

I just quit my mental health job.I was working in substance abuse unit I am having compassion fatigue I feel like life is futile for those people who just choose to be chemically dependent.I am very compassionate and non judgmental but it came to a point where I am not treated so right anymore no matter how nice and respectful I am patients will still get ugly violent and rude just to get what they want.Everyday is chaotic I fee like working in a jungle!Cursing is way too much F and S words all they can say.Ifeel like I am slave for these violent people.All I can say is you need a lot of patience don't take anything personally most of these people are irritable and irrational.They can be nasty and its unbelievable how I see and hear dirty acts from them.
