swollen lips...should I reschedule interview?

Published

I'm out of ideas of what to do. Over the weekend I went out and bought myself a really nice suit and prepared myself for my interview for tomorrow, Tuesday.

However, it was a bad day yesterday. I won't go too much into details but I got smacked in the face and my upper lip has been swelling since yesterday! thank goodness there's no bruise!!!I don't know if my swelling lips will go down by tomorrow. Has anyone ever called to reschedule an interview? I look pretty funky... scary too. This is so bad. What do you think?

Hey, you know people pay big money to get that look. :)

Here is an excuse you could use, it should work if you don't want to share the actual circumstances:

A friend of mine came home from a vacation and had just got her dogs back from the person who had them while she was gone. They were both big labs and very excited to see her. She got a big fat lip because while she was distracted talking to someone, she leaned down to kiss one of her dogs on the head and it jumped up at the same time. She had to buy herself a crown for a front tooth, and, stitches as she bit through her lip as well!

ice it, put cover up on the outside of your lips to maybe blend it in with your skin color. but dont reschedule.

Are you freaking kidding me?! That's like freaking GOLD to an interviewer!!!

This is how I would present said situation:

I hand gesture like a fiend so I am making the "stop" motion with my hands here:

"So, I have to get this off of my chest. I totally got smacked in the face yesterday at (event) and I SWEAR I didn't get bad botox! (after laughter) Isn't it just like Murphy's law to get popped in the face the day before an interview?!"

After that you get to do a lot of smiling (albeit sideways) and you're golden.

If you're able to, take something to take the swelling down if you're not allergic, and ice it x20minutes on, x20minutes off until you go in.

Good luck!

I'm sure you look great! just ICE ICE ICE! that way it can help reduce the swelling in your lips. I wouldn't reschedule the interview. If they ask about your lips then just tell them that your lips got injured. looks shouldn't have anything to do with how well you are as a nurse! good luck tomorrow!

i hope your interview went well today. when i was about three days away from a scheduled grad school interview i had a weird accident. i lived in a circular dorm with phones placed in alcoves every few feet. a friend was pinning up the first leg of my new jeans to hem and someone yelled that i had a phone call. i took off down the hall and tripped and smacked my nose into the pointed edge of the wall of the alcove. it looked like a massacre had taken place!

at the er, they told told me i had broken my nose and i already knew i had two of the most impressive

shiners in recorded history. oh... the er didn't believe i had bumped into a wall.

by the interview day, i was purple, lavender, yellow, green, gray, and black, and my poor nose was huge.

i sounded like a warthog.

i was accepted. i also lost my dorm damage deposit because the wall had to be repainted and the blood wouldn't come out of the carpeting entirely.
