I have tried to find this on google
looking for explanation of what is a surgigator - mentioned in the
Teaching/psychosocial section of the postpartal period when
explaining about peri-care, surgigator, sitz bath

The hospital where I gave birth has had these since at least six years ago and let me tell you they are the best! They have soap cartridges that go in it to clean the peri area and the warm water feels really good after giving birth. They're awesome.

We just use peri bottles. Hardly anyone requests anything else. We also have tucks and dermoplast for soreness.

Sounds like the devices we used to clean bedpans with when I worked as a CNA. Most of the time they were nonoperational. Then I started to think about that European thing called a bidet.
Yea bidet was what came to my mind too. Not just European either. DH said there were all over the UAE and Saudi Arabia, too.

We had some disposable sitz baths a few years back w/ a wand which clicked into a notch in the tub part. It had multiple tiny holes for the water to squirt out and could be used as w/ or w/o a soap cartridge. You didn't hang a bag like you do w/ a regular sitz for warm water, you connected the hose to the sink. I had a patient's children go into the bathroom once and spray soapy watery all over one another, the walls, and the floor which I slipped on!
Here's a link to the thing we used. It is nice for the patients, but I think it is expensive.

We use them here--we call them sitz baths. We normally use the peri bottles, but if mom had a nasty tear, or an episiotomy that is really bothering her, we use the sitz baths.
That is a funny name. :) I have never heard one called a surgigator.

THE WORLDS GREATEST INVENTION FOR ANY MOM WHO HAS HAD A EPIS OR TEAR. I don't think I could have beared the pain after having my boys with out this WONDERFUL machine. (It helped ease the pain from my nasty tear and epis) There were times that I didn't want to leave the bathroom because it helped so much. (it helped much better than a sitz bath in my case)
I posted a question last year trying to find out what it was called because my friend was having a baby at a different hospital and we (the other moms who had babies at our hospital) wanted to make sure that she could use it at her new hospital.
Someone posted what it was: a machine that shoots warm water to wash your peri area after birth.
