Support Tech Fired for Faking......

Published

we have, shall i say had a tech that has a history of telling stories for attention and generally lying about things. the straw that broke the camel was that she "faked" vital signs on over half of the fresh post ops she needed to get vitals on.:banghead:

this really bugs me. we trusted that she knew her job and was reporting true information to us. what bugs me even more is she has filed a grievance and wants her job back. she says we set her up to fail.

the thing is she is such a story teller and can be quite charming to those that do not know her. i am so afraid she is going to make up some terrible things about our nurses.:bluecry1::o

If the hospital has a union, I would not be surprized to see this tech return to her position, as sorry as I am to say it, but I have seen this often in my nursing career.

It could happen. Be prepared. If she does come back that someone has responsibility to review her work and perhaps give her specific written assignments that she has to turn in.

if she is allowed to return, i'd be petrified to delegate anything to her.

Me too. Lying about vitals it despicable. She could have caused a patient serious harm. It will be a grave injustice if she is allowed back to work but nothing shocks me these days.

she would have to be assigned a one on one supervisor,,,not very cost effective.....lol

I work in LTC, but ALWAYS take my own vitals. If I'm the one charting them along with an assessment (like the Medicare residents) then by golly, I'm going to do them myself! Not saying what to do in a hospital b/c I've never worked in a hospital, just me!
