SUNY Downstate ABSN 2020-2021

Does submitting your app until last minute really bring down your chances of being accepted? Nervous because I haven’t submitted mine yet.

Hi all,

Just got my TEAS score back (91.5 Reading, 100 for Math and 78.7 for Science). Obviously annoyed I was a question away from the "preferred 80%", but I don't think I can retake the test again before the deadline.

The email said it the transcript was sent to Downstate, but for those of you who uploaded the pdf, was it just the pdf they emailed you that evaluated your score (and indicated what you need to study up on?) or is it an actual transcript with just the scores?

Hoping people hear back about interviews soon! I'm so nervous; I applied to only one other program which starts in January so it'd be great if Downstate started admitting people in January!

Yes. My advisor told me that SUNY basically follows a first come first served approach.

I uploaded the pdf that ATI emailed with the scores. Hopefully, that's enough.

I am not sure if this is true this application round. If you look at last years thread, SUNY clearly had rolling admissions. People were getting interviews as early as October. This year the application explicitly says interviews will happen in Dec and Jan (aka after the application period closes). Might be because they had a slightly late start due to the switch over of the new app.

I received the same science score as you and I was so irritated because I remember changing an answer that I should have kept! My english and math scores were similar to yours as well. Honestly I didn't feel like retaking the exam, SUNY Downstate is the only program I applied to that required the TEAS actually.

You’re absolutely right that things might be different this application round because of the new web application system and the delayed start. But earlier submission is still encouraged on their website.

I also went to an info session last week where a woman on the admissions committee had said that it is first come first serve, and that they have had to turn qualified candidates away because they submitted too late. That being said, they also say that they don’t necessarily review things in the order they are received, so ??‍♂️

What does your application status say? Mine is "Screening in Process." I submitted October 27th with my TEAS in.

Mine also says screening in process. I submitted nov 10th I think

Same here. My last recommender submitted their letter around mid October. Still have to submit my grades for this semester as well.

My status is "File forwarded to program for review." Does anyone else have any other statuses?
