Hi everyone,
I've started this thread so we can discuss and share our experiences applying to SUNY's ABSN program for 2020. This is my second time applying. I waited till the very last day of the deadline to submit my application last year (I knowww) since I had taken the TEAS and had just gotten the results. However, I've already submitted my application for the upcoming year and hope to get a call for an interview. Looking forward to chatting with you all.
Sidenote: I really like the upgrade they did to the online application. So much more user-friendly.
WOW! after applying in October I was just called for an interview! I already submitted my deposit to Columbia in January, though. But at this point the first few months (at least) of both programs will be online soooo... Also, I never took my math and dev psych CLEP tests! God so much uncertainty right now.
I'm actually really shocked that I just got a phone call for an interview as well. I haven't had much luck this cycle and got rejections from both Stonybrook and Columbia; but I did get into the 2nd degree program at Molloy College. However, for obvious reasons I'd definitely prefer to go to SUNY downstate.
Hey guys, is anyone else who is accepted having trouble doing their health forms? My doctor's office is closed and they're insisting that I go to urgent care to get a physical which I REALLY don't want to do. How are other folks dealing with this? I'd really like to avoid hospitals right now and my last physical/blood work is still good until June

Your doctor is insisting you go to urgent care? My doctors office is also closed, but they are still working from home so I called and was able to leave a message telling them I needed blood work and a physical for nursing school. My NP called me back and used my physical from last Summer (still good like yours), and directed me to a lab (Quest Diagnostics) near my house where I could go to get the blood work done. I emailed her all the material I needed, she ordered the blood work from the lab, and then filled out the form and sent it back to me. I did all of this a week and a half ago. Have you made contact with your Drs office? My initial plan was also to go to urgent care but my NP for good reason strongly advised against it (I think you’re right! Stay away).
Thanks, @beanurse222. (I'm not sure how to reply to just your comment LOL.) The person I've been emailing back and forth from student health services is the one insisting I go to urgent care. I haven't been able to get in touch with my doctor. I'm thinking now that I could go on Zocdoc and find a random doctor that I'd be able to telecommunicate with and explain the process you went through to see if they'd be able to help me out.

hey! I had a similar issue. luckily my last physical was from June. I spoke to someone from health services and they said to use any physical u got within the past year. I would recommend using that physical and if anything, when June rolls around, get a new one. Do not go to Urgent Care. For labs, I went to a local patient service center like Lenco, Quest, or Bioreference. You need a requisition form from a doctor so I would contact your doctor and ask if they can verbal a requisition form to one of those centers with everything you need. They have a bunch of them throughout NYC (assuming you’re in NYC? if not- I’m sure there are other lab centers I just dont know the names) luckily my doctor was able to scan and email all forms to my email. Everywhere is closed right now. It’s a nightmare. Use any old labs or physicals for now until this is all fixed. Good luck!

Thanks for letting me know. I was wondering if it was still a group interview.
Congratulations on getting in!!
At this point I’m just happy to have been called, the wait and uncertainty is the worst.
how long after your interview did you get an acceptance?
