I wanted to start a thread about the upcoming application process for SUNY Downstate ABSN. There is a fantastic thread for the previous round of applications last year, and I thought this would be a good forum for us to share any information that we might have about Downstate's admission process as we go through it together. @michelle.singh60 thank you! I can't believe they give you decisions that fast, this makes me nervous now! Is there anything I should look out for in terms of the interview, and how did you prep for yours? any advice would be appreciated!

Honestly I just winged it! I had no idea what to expect because I didn't know any previous students.

Hi all! I've been a lurker and went in for my interview (Friday) at 1pm. The setting was 4 applicants (including myself) answering 3 questions each. Each question was unique and random because there was a sheet of 40+ questions and we chose our 3 questions to answer by randomly choosing numbers.

After, there was a short writing prompt that was given (probably to simply test our writing skills) and I'm sure the questions that were asked in the prompt (you get a choice between two)... will change.

Hi all, I'll be submitting my application soon and just getting together my recommendation letters. Are previous supervisors/employers the best place to get a recommendation or a current/past professor?

Hey Congrats to both of you. Also to berkenkot I think you where at my interview last Friday at 1 pm. I was sitting next to you, since you where the only guy in the group. I got my acceptance today as well. Can't wait to start, I look forward to meeting everyone.

edit: Also to Lindo0o, my recommendation letters where from

1.past professor (Microbiology)

2.past employer (Restaurant)

3.past supervisor (Pharmacist)

So I'm not sure what is best, but I think the quality of the letter out weighs where it came from, so just make sure you get recommenders that can write strong letters on your behalf.
