Nursing Students School Programs

Hello Everyone.

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for the 2018-2019 program at downstate? Hoping we can all loop each other in on the status.

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if they look at the other sections of the TEAS besides Math and Reading and if you retake the exam if they take the highest of each section or just the second exam score all together

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows if they look at the other sections of the TEAS besides Math and Reading and if you retake the exam if they take the highest of each section or just the second exam score all together

When I called, they gave me a sort of vague answer last month. I asked the same and they said they do see the other score sections (she didn't specify how much they take it into consideration) and it's noted if you took it twice. But she didn't state whether or not they take the highest score, just that they take note that it was taken twice. Maybe if you call, you'll get a more specific answer! She sounded very straightforward with me like she didn't want to give me too much detail and sounded like she wanted to end the conversation short lol.

At the open house one of the professors said that the answer is pretty much that the English and Math is super important but they take everything into consideration. Idk if they superscore or anything like that. And @drop491 I know!!! Literally every day that passes and it gets closer to December I start getting more nervous. Waiting is stressful!!

Hi everyone! The school got back to me and said they won't be releasing decisions until December/January.

This wait is too long!

Thank you for asking them and letting us know! on the bright side, this might mean that we don't have to wait until February! Glass half full!

Thanks for following up!

I've been checking every day twice every day. The wait is killing me too!

Does anyone know how competitive this school is compared to Stony Brook or Binghamton?

Hi all,

I was wondering, where is everyone checking their status? I am retaking the TEAs tomorrow and still need a psych class to fulfill my pre-reqs. But what if i already got denied and dont even know it. Any help is appreciated, thank you! And good luck to everyone.

It's the same website where you apply. It will say "Application Status: Submitted" with a check next to it. Any updates on the status appear below. Mine currently says "FORWARDED TO ADMISSIONS COMMITTEE FOR REVIEW"

Hello everyone, I'm planning to apply to this program. I still have to take the teas next week and submit my application. Does anyone of you have grades pending for this application? I have 4 pending prerequisites that I am doing now (I will finish them in December). I am a bit worried that I might not be a competitive applicant since I have 2 Science courses pending. Any advice is much appreciated.

When I was at the open house it seemed like many people still had pending grades for pre req courses. Considering no one here is in admissions it would be hard for any of us to say how competitive you are as an applicant. You could contact admissions or schedule an appointment for application advising if you are concerned and are able to go, but I don't think they really tell people their chances of getting in. The only way to really know is to apply, wait, and see. And we're all in that boat, so welcome!
