Suny downstate absn 2018-2019

Published

Hello Everyone.

I was just wondering if anyone out there applied for the 2018-2019 program at downstate? Hoping we can all loop each other in on the status.

Accepted!! Are there any people out there who have been through the program? I'm nervous about the neighborhood, and lifestyle that goes along with that. Would love to talk to someone who went through it or knows someone who went through it... where do people live? How do they commute to school? Interviewing gave me kind of a bad taste (albeit it's winter here and everything's drab and dreary) but it seemed pretty sketchy. Nervous about taking the subway home at night.

Just got my acceptance! Does anyone know if there is a facebook group for the upcoming class or what the name of the group is? I tried searching for it but couldnt find it. Congrats to everyone! Now to look for a place to live....

I will be there

Congrats to those who got accepted as well! I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the Facebook group the was made for the program? I can't search for it unfortunately! :( Also I'm also trying to figure out the whole housing situation as it seems they don't have dorming situations for the summer..

Hey all! I just got my acceptance. I managed to find the FB group (idk if I can put the link here but I will try) the group is called "SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN 2018-2019"

I totally feel you on the sketchy-ness/taking the subway home at night. I've been there a few times for open houses, info sessions and the interview, and it definitely doesn't feel like the safest area but I've been okay so far. I'm sure in the FB group or even at orientation, a bunch of us can figure out who takes which trains and we can work out a buddy system so at least we all don't have to do it alone

Hi everyone! Just recently got accepted as well. I've personally grown up ~20 minutes away from the neighborhood and have many friends who have attended Downstate, and overall you should be safe. I've been in the area around the late hours in the night when I was at Kings County and I've been okay - no one has bothered me. BUT you should still take some precautions because there are some homeless people who are constantly around the hospital.

Congrats to all that got their acceptance letters!
