Published

Hi everyone! I am new to All Nurses but I've noticed that no one has started a thread for the SUNY Downstate June 2012 ABSN program (or maybe I just didnt see it). Is anyone out there applying for it????:):)

Ebbygreen ask me anything U need to know about the School. I got my BSN from there.

ebbygreen what are your gpa and teas scores, if you don't mind sharing ?

Thank you very much!

I have so many questions! First and foremost - if you had it to do over again, would you chose Downstate?

Yes I would. I find the school to be wonderful. Thats the mean reason I am applying to the MSN program there.

Has anyone else heard from Downstate yet?

Still waiting to hear SOMETHING. I just want to know already.:(

Hey everyone I just learned this morning that I have been accepted!

Unfortunately I know NOTHING about the program, aside from what is on the website and looking through a few message boards.

So is there anyone out there who can help? @nurseaig I see you have attended the program - would you have availability to talk to give your perspectives on the program?

Any one else who can offer my more information on the program would be GREATLY appreciated. Feel free to PM me. Specifically I am looking for:

- how do you rate the quality of the classes? the facility?

- where do you do clinicals? are they done mostly at Downstate Medical Center, or at other locations throughout NYC?

- are most graduates able to find jobs right away?

- how would you rate the quality of clinical experience?

- have you gained exposure to lots of different facilities?

- how are the teachers? are they engaging teachers, or do you find yourself teaching yourself the material?

I have lots of questions and would appreciate anyone's help. Thank you!

For the price one can't go wrong. The school and the professors are wonderful. They want u to succeed.in my opinion, I would rather pay $12.000 for a BSN than $60.000 or more, which U would end up paying at Columbia. The way the market is going it is kind of hard trying to land a job or the ideal job right out of school without any experience. As far as clinicals goes, students get to get real life experience.
