SUNY Downstate ABSN June 2012

Hi everyone! I am new to All Nurses but I've noticed that no one has started a thread for the SUNY Downstate June 2012 ABSN program (or maybe I just didnt see it). Is anyone out there applying for it????:):)

Letters are not going out until May. Got this from an inside source at Downstate. This is due to the volume of applicants that applied. They received more applicants than any other years. It's going to be very very very tough to get in. Make sure you have other OPTIONS.

MAY?!? The program starts in June.

Not to mention, what about the people who get accepted but decide not to go..by the time they let Downstate know, and then they let the waitlisters know, the program will have started. I understand they have a high amount of applicants, but come on, this is ridiculous.

That's the same thing I said amchugh209. I applied to a few other schools so I'm not putting all my hopes I to Downstate. I would love to attend there because of the affordable tuition and I heard the program is great.

That's insane. May? That's too close to the start date. That will make things even more complicated. This wait is so long smh

there would be three letters sent this year. the first acceptance letter had already gone out . it went out late January 2012. the next acceptance letter would be in the month of march . the final acceptance letter would be in the month of may.. those who get their acceptance letter in the months of march and may would be placed on the waiting list. and may not really get in. every year the first acceptance letter had always being sent out before or during the month of February . sorry guys. on this acceptance letter , those that received it was advice never to share or post anything ... sorry guys. i didn't get mine. but alot of individuals that i know got theirs already.

It seems like everyone is getting different information. How do you know that there are three letters being sent out? Did you hear this from someone who works at Downstate?

yes i was informed . the admission committee already met in the month of January. and the first acceptance letter has already been sent. i called suny downstate office of admission at 7182702446 . Good luck .

I haven't received anything from Downstate and I finally got through to speak with an actual person from Admissions last week. Not just one of those people who answers and forwards you to a voice mail but an actual person lol. He said that I should be hearing something from Downstate within the next week and a half. I guess that coincides with a March letter but who really knows. I sent my inital application in September but was held up with TEAS grades and final transcripts from the fall. I'll post again as soon as I hear something from them.

So hey everyone.... I just found this blog and am a bit encouraged by what I hear.. I have a decent GPA from college 15 years ago and a 3.8 pre-req GPA and an excellent TEAS V score and I have not heard anything yet at all. I finished my application in Nov. and they had all of my documents by mid Dec and that is when it went on to the Nursing Program. Every time I call they tell me that there is nothing new they can tell me, and that I will be notified when they make a decision - which is SOOOO aggravating. Has anyone on here heard ANYTHING at all??

I got my acceptance package from Downstate at the end of February - they are obviously still accepting students so don't get discouraged if you're still waiting!

I am still waiting for my package for the MSN program. I think my GPA is to low.
