  1. Hi! Yes I heard last week, got acceptance letter on Thursday....
  2. I was so nervous prior to beginning my college Chem 1 class as I had a difficult time in high school..I barely passed! But I ended up with a B+ as a final grade (no curves) and I'm pretty darn proud of that. I worked my butt off to get that grade as I remembered nothing from high school. Not to mention I was out of high school for over 10 years anyway. So it can be done!
  3. No problem! Thank you and good luck to you!
  4. Prospectivern, I was rejected from the one year, wait listed from the 2 year and just found out I was accepted off the wait list last week. I graduated from SB in 2004 with a bachelors in Health Science. Undergrad gpa was a 3.2. I got A's in A and P 1 and 2, Micro, and psych classes. Only thing under an A was Chem 1 and Stats. I volunteered a short period of time at Brookhaven Hospital. My references were from two former managers and my A and P professor. No one know how they choose who they do. It's not all about grades for Stony Brook. A lot of weight is put on your essay and references. So make sure those are fantastic. I think it totally helped me that I am an alumni of the school. Volunteering is also important. If you can, attend an info session. They can answer any question you have.
  5. Kaywal, at the info session I attended last year they did say it was possible to work part time while in the 2 year program. I don't think it's recommend but they stated that some people do and are fine. If you go back through this thread there is some info regarding classes and clinicals.
  6. Hi everyone! I just found out today I was accepted!!!!! After I was rejected from the accelerated program and waitlisted for the two year, I lost all hope for Stony Brook. So seeing the email today that I got in completely shocked me!!!!
  7. I got your message so I guess it went through. I have no idea why I have issues with pm's. Last time it was bc my mailbox was full but now it's empty. Strange. Anywho, we have the same times.. Great :)
  8. I'm at the manhattan va also for geriatric and psych. What days are u there?
  9. Mablecee, good luck!! Laura, I never heard of them holding interviews so I have no idea what they would ask. Did they say you're accepted pending an interview?? Also, just to let everyone know, I had my appt with an advisor today. Orientation is August 22. They will be mailing/emailing more info about that in the upcoming weeks. I got my schedule and clinical placement too. Excited and nervous!!
  10. Mh527 thank you so much for the info. I officially confirmed my enrollment in the program online and paid my deposit. Now I can relax! I meet with the advisor on May 24th.
  11. I just got a call from them and I was offer acceptance from the wait list. I declined as I decided to go elsewhere so someone else should be getting called now!
  12. Has anyone received a letter from them? I found out I was accepted verbally over a month ago and still nothing. I have called twice since then and was assured I would be getting my letter the next week. I was accepted to NYU and the deposit is due next week. I can't simply go by a verbal acceptance alone as I have been burned by another college in the past. This is so frustrating!!!!
  13. FYI- I called Pace today because I have not gotten ANY written confirmation to date that I was accepted, only verbal, so I wanted to see what was going on. They said they are behind in getting letters out but told me that they are being sent next week... so for anyone who is still waiting, maybe you will find out you get in next week! Fingers are crossed for you all!
  14. I believe that is incorrect regarding being an RN for a year. You can start the masters portion whenever you want. They made this quite clear at the info session. It is a combined degree and if you chose to, you can complete the program in 3 years if you stay full time. An upside to choosing Pace over Columbia is that Pace does not require the GRE's while Columbia does. Not to mention the cost. But I see what you mean about options for the masters portion. Columbia does have more.
  15. Just wanted to say congrats on the acceptance!
