Stony brook pnp 2022
Hi! Yes I heard last week, got acceptance letter on Thursday....

Has anyone else taken College Chemistry wothout HS chem?
I was so nervous prior to beginning my college Chem 1 class as I had a difficult time in high school..I barely passed! But I ended up with a B+ as a final grade (no curves) and I'm pretty darn proud of that. I worked my butt off to get that grade as I remembered nothing from high school. Not to mention I was out of high school for over 10 years anyway. So it can be done!

Stony Brook Basic BSN Fall 2012
Prospectivern, I was rejected from the one year, wait listed from the 2 year and just found out I was accepted off the wait list last week. I graduated from SB in 2004 with a bachelors in Health Science. Undergrad gpa was a 3.2. I got A's in A and P 1 and 2, Micro, and psych classes. Only thing under an A was Chem 1 and Stats. I volunteered a short period of time at Brookhaven Hospital. My references were from two former managers and my A and P professor. No one know how they choose who they do. It's not all about grades for Stony Brook. A lot of weight is put on your essay and references. So make sure those are fantastic. I think it totally helped me that I am an alumni of the school. Volunteering is also important. If you can, attend an info session. They can answer any question you have.

Stony Brook Basic BSN Fall 2012
Kaywal, at the info session I attended last year they did say it was possible to work part time while in the 2 year program. I don't think it's recommend but they stated that some people do and are fine. If you go back through this thread there is some info regarding classes and clinicals.

Pace University CDP Fall 2012
Mablecee, good luck!! Laura, I never heard of them holding interviews so I have no idea what they would ask. Did they say you're accepted pending an interview?? Also, just to let everyone know, I had my appt with an advisor today. Orientation is August 22. They will be mailing/emailing more info about that in the upcoming weeks. I got my schedule and clinical placement too. Excited and nervous!!

SUNY Downstate ABSN June 2012
I just got a call from them and I was offer acceptance from the wait list. I declined as I decided to go elsewhere so someone else should be getting called now!

Pace University CDP Fall 2012
Has anyone received a letter from them? I found out I was accepted verbally over a month ago and still nothing. I have called twice since then and was assured I would be getting my letter the next week. I was accepted to NYU and the deposit is due next week. I can't simply go by a verbal acceptance alone as I have been burned by another college in the past. This is so frustrating!!!!

Pace University CDP Fall 2012
FYI- I called Pace today because I have not gotten ANY written confirmation to date that I was accepted, only verbal, so I wanted to see what was going on. They said they are behind in getting letters out but told me that they are being sent next week... so for anyone who is still waiting, maybe you will find out you get in next week! Fingers are crossed for you all!

I believe that is incorrect regarding being an RN for a year. You can start the masters portion whenever you want. They made this quite clear at the info session. It is a combined degree and if you chose to, you can complete the program in 3 years if you stay full time. An upside to choosing Pace over Columbia is that Pace does not require the GRE's while Columbia does. Not to mention the cost. But I see what you mean about options for the masters portion. Columbia does have more.

Pace University CDP Fall 2012
Thank you, congrats to you as well!! No, I didn't meet with anyone yet. Still waiting for my letter after receiving two separate verbal confirmations I got in. So I guess I will know what I am doing next once I get that letter. I was told that it was on the way and I should have it next week.

Thank you! Pace allows you to start the MS portion whenever you want, directly after or years after, which I love. I know with NYU you can apply while in their BSN program to the MSN program. I think you apply when in your second semester. It sounded to me that as long as your grades are good, then you shouldn't have a problem. I don't remember hearing that they required you to work first. I guess the deciding factor for me ultimately is the length of Pace's program.

I just found out I was accepted to NYU, but will ultimately go with Pace. For me, its two reasons. The first being that their BSN program is shorter being that it is only 12 months (I am doing the one year track). Second, if I do decide to continue with a masters at Pace, I am guaranteed admissions into the program and don't have to reapply again. Both schools have high pass rates for the NCLEX, so you really can't lose with either in my opinion. My stats for someone that asked: A's in all pre-reqs except Stats. 3.2 undergrad GPA.

Congrats Dollface on getting into Farmingdale!!

Pace University CDP Fall 2012
First, congrats!!! I got accepted into the 1 year track also and have two children, 6 and 4. My priority is finishing and getting a job asap, which is why I chose the 1 year track. I have a great support system with family and my husband to help with the kids which is huge, without them, I could never do this. It will be an intense year, but for me I look at it as only a year and I am done.

I also applied to Stony Brook, Downstate, NYU, and Concordia. Got waitlisted at Downstate. Rejected from Stony Brook's 1 year program, awaiting to hear from the 2 year program but going to stick with Pace.

Pace University CDP Fall 2012
Good luck to you! They are pretty good about processing documents right away... my letter was sent on a Monday and I saw it on the checklist that it was received on a Thursday. I had called them once they received everything and was told they need at least 2 weeks, possibly 3-4. But they are nice about giving updates over the phone.
