Hey Guys,
I just wanted to create a thread for those of us who are applying to the accelerated program at SUNY Brockport for Summer/2016. I have already submitted my application and I am wishing everyone the best of luck. I hope you guys get into the program you desire. I decided that I wanted to apply to Brockport because I needed a change of scenery. Coming from New York City I feel like Brockport is the financially responsible thing to do.
I am encouraging people who are currently attending the program write about their experiences and provide us with any advice as we embark on the journey of nursing school!!!
Thanks,
Ellie
Congrats! What time did you receive the email?
I got the email around 3pm. In the past years where emails were sent, I don't think everyone got one. I don't know how they decide. She said the official letter will arrive in 1-2 weeks.
She did ask in the email that we reply to her stating whether or not we plan to attend. Maybe they send out the email to their initial choices, then go down the line to others as people decline? That could be way off. I'm just speculating.
No, my application status has not changed.
Hey Guys,
Congrats to everyone that was selected into the program. I just read the email I was heading home. I can't believe it I am honestly so happy for everyone. I got accepted into Rochester last year and it was so expensive that I had to decline. I will be moving from NYC so I would honestly appreciate if someone would give me insight about the city of rochester and brockport.
I don't know what it's like to live in Brockport but it is a very small town. Many said that it can be a bit boring. The upside is that you would be very close to school. I live in Rochester and did when I was getting my first bachelors at Brockport. It's about a 20 minute drive but I didn't really mind it. Rochester is a good city (I'm a native of the area) but a lot of it is very rough. If you look for housing in the city, the south east section is your best bet (monroe, park, swillburg, southwedge, east/university neighborhoods). Places like culver/merchants and the 19th ward are cheaper but get a bit more rough. However, they are still pretty safe. Housing prices are moderate (probably cheap compared to NYC) but our public transit sucks. Let me know what else you'd like to you.
I also got in!!! Via email yesterday. I announced the news to my parents and they were so happy...I wish I can announce it via FB etc but I'm staying quiet so my job doesn't hear until I give my 2 weeks in a few months :) Do you guys want to make a group on FB to stay connected and form future study groups or advice etc on there? I was thinking that be a great way to communicate and get together easier once we are in school and can support each others efforts to get through . Congrats to everyone else that got in. Can't wait to meet you guys in class :)
