  1. Thank you & I wish you the best in graduate school!! I have spoken to them but what gets me nervous is that they want me to apply for loans in April & our classes begin in May so I am terrified I will not receive funding on time. I will continue to be persistent with them.
  2. I filed for fafsa however they haven't told me I needed a financial aid appeal. I hope that doesn't happen. Did you have to go through an appeal process? & if you did is it difficult.
  3. well I'm not just relying on a go fundme page, I'm also applying to scholarships and applying for both federal and private loans
  4. Hey Guys, If anyone is in the same boat trying to relocate & you happen to need a roommate or you are trying to make extra money while attending nursing & have a semi-furnished basement please let me know I would be totally interesting in looking into that. Thanks, E
  5. Hey Everyone, I need the advice of students who are going through & have gone through my current situation. At the moment I am feeling grateful & overwhelmed because I got accepted into an accelerated nursing program. What makes the opportunity even better is that the tuition for the entire program is approx 22K. Even though that is a ridiculously low amount for an accelerated nursing program I will not have to account for many expenses like relocating, books, food, rent, car, car insurance, health insurance & any other expense you can think of. I have prepared by saving 10k which isn't enough and I have been diligently working on scholarship applications, a gofundme page & taking on federal & private loans. Is obtaining federal loans easy & would I be able to use it for living expenses? What other advice can you think of to help me be a lil more financially prepared for my journey through nursing school?
  6. Hey josephkey14, I really appreciate your help. I'm sorry I wanted to send you a direct message however that's not something they offer anymore on the allnurses website. I wanted to ask you about the loan process. Now that I am calculating all the expenses in my head things are just so overwhelming for me.
  7. Hey Misslizz, I just received word from the program director. the email stated all the medical paper work, completing the cpr certification and when orientation begins. let me know if you didn't receive a copy and i can forward the info to you

  9. Hey Josephkey14, I appreciate you taking the time to thoroughly respond to me that has definitely helps. I wanted to know what medical supplies are needed for class & clinical. Do you have any recommendations for stethoscopes? Is there a social media forum besides allnurses where accelerated nursing students from Brockport use?
  10. I was accepted into the program and I did not receive anything in the mail. If I do not receive anything by the 21st I will personally email the director. hope this helps, E
  11. Hey Josephkey14, Thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. You have no idea how much this will help us!!! I am very curious about your transition from NYC to Brockport. I am also from Brooklyn so it would be comforting to know what strategies/tips you had for moving? Are there any places that you recommend to move into? Is it difficult to get an apartment around the area? What do you recommend us do to prepare for nursing school? How do you like the program? What is a typical schedule of an accelerated nursing student (ex: M-F 9am-7pm) ? Where are clinicals going to be held? Do people work part-time and go to school? And finally I know financing is through loans for second degree students was it difficult to attain government loans? I wish you the best for the remainder program!!! Thank you
  12. Hey Guys, I want to thank everyone again for the good wishes and advice. Honestly, I am excited, grateful and terrified I have so much to prepare for within the next couple of months. I hope I have enough time to get settled in by the time school starts. I was wondering if the Facebook page was created because I would definitely love to make this an opportunity to get know my 2017 cohort? I also wanted to know what you guys are doing to prepare for nursing school? I have been looking through youtube channels to learn about other accelerated students experience and tips that worked best for them. Good Luck to Everyone.
  13. Hey Guys, Congrats to everyone that was selected into the program. I just read the email I was heading home. I can't believe it I am honestly so happy for everyone. I got accepted into Rochester last year and it was so expensive that I had to decline. I will be moving from NYC so I would honestly appreciate if someone would give me insight about the city of rochester and brockport.
  14. I am also applying to Downstate and NJCU as well. I spoke to the director and she said that they look heavily on GPA and then they look at the essay to see if you know how to follow directions and construct a well written essay. You have a strong science GPA and I am pretty sure they are going to take into account what you have done while going to school. I graduated with a 3.51 but my science is a 3.50. Just make sure you have a positive outlook and good things will come especially if you put the effort into getting into nursing school. At this point I just want to get accepted into any of the school I apply to.
  15. Hey Zvolquez, Thank you for taking the time to write on the forum!! That's awesome you are coming from the city. The director of the program said they have many local applicants apply. I am so nervous because I would really like to get into a nursing school. We have a better chance than last years cohort to get accepted into the program. The director told me over 200 applied for the 2015 class. Did you have an opportunity to visit the campus? Because of my current work its hard for me to set a date to visit the school. What other schools are you applying to if you don't mind me asking? If you don't feel comfortable please feel free to direct message me. Good luck to you E
