Hello Everyone,
I am preparing myself to apply for Summer 2018 pacesetter BSN program. We can use this forum for Summer 2018 applicants. I am in the process of taking Hesi exam. I have completed all my prerequisite courses needed for the program.
Little bit about me:
BS in Microbiology in 2005 -GPA (3.05)
MPH degree in Epidemiology in 2012-GPA (3.85)
Associate degree of Science in 2017-GPA (4.0)
Hesi test-will be taking it in August
Working full time with City Health department as an epidemiologist specialist since last five years. I am also a mom of two boys.
Got accepted to MUSC college of nursing program but declined it. Also got accepted to Johns Hopkins Entry into Masters of nursing program for Fall 2017 but had to deffer it to Fall 2018 due to financial circumstances.
Trying to apply for the in-state school due to affordable tuition as well as easy commute.
I really hope i can get into UT Health Science center pacesetter program as it's my first option as it's closest to me as well as it's affordable and one of the best programs in Texas.
So I was talking with my professor and she mentioned this. They may be looking at what your overall course load has been in school. If you have two students one with a 3.9 and one with 3.5, but the 3.9 completed all the course work over 8 semesters, while the 3.5 completed it over 4 semesters, they may weigh that in consideration. This is especially important when you consider the program is 4 semester of intense course work.
Hello everybody, I am late to this but received an acceptance email yesterday! I did get denied last semester but that was before receiving an A in microbiology, philosophy, and biology. I did complete my prereqs in 3 semesters (I did do 2 college classes in high school)
My stats were:
86 HESI
3.5 science GPA (reasoning for this was a C in anatomy 1, As in everything else)
3.7 overall
If you get denied don't fret. I honestly did not think I would get in and applied to TWU for fall as well. I wish you all the best of luck and if anybody has any questions let me know!!
Also forgot to mention that this semester I have been retaking A&P 1 and a few medical classes just to refresh my memory. I anticipated the worst case scenario which would be that I would have to wait until next spring to get accepted. My friends stats were much better than mine (91 HESI, 3.8 overall, 3.5 science) and she got accepted 2018 spring when I got denied with a 3.35 science, 3.6 overall and 86 HESI. Really hope this helps those who try to predict who gets accepted and what not!
For those with heavy hearts, I just want to shed some light. I didn't get in with my first application to UTHealth for this past Spring 2018 semester. It's okay to be upset but please do not belittle yourself or your accomplishments up over this. I applied for this past Spring 2018 semester with a 4.0 GPA science and overall and a 92 HESI score, but still did not get accepted. I retook the HESI, made a 94, and reapplied for the Summer 2018 semester to finally get accepted. I'm telling you UTHealth's application process really does seem to be random selection in my opinion. My experience goes to show that even with good stats, that doesn't guarantee you a "shoe-in." Keep your heads held high because you've come this far and accomplished so much already. Retake a HESI or another class if you can, but I cannot stress enough to y'all to reapply for the next semester. I sincerely hope this helps anyone who feels down about not getting accepted for the Summer 2018 semester or simply waitlisted. Be proud of yourselves :)
Also doesn't it matter when you submitted your application ? I'm sure they review the ones submitted earlier first
I thought this too, so I was really worried about that. But I couldn't take my HESI until 5 days before the application deadline so I applied then and got accepted. I also read that someone from a previous semester submitted their app either the day of or day before. So so random

They could have just identified people they will not admit for Summer 2018 semester while also working on selecting the rest of the class. All three things could be going simultaneously.
