Summer 2018- UT Health Science center pacesetter BSN program

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am preparing myself to apply for Summer 2018 pacesetter BSN program. We can use this forum for Summer 2018 applicants. I am in the process of taking Hesi exam. I have completed all my prerequisite courses needed for the program.

Little bit about me:

BS in Microbiology in 2005 -GPA (3.05)

MPH degree in Epidemiology in 2012-GPA (3.85)

Associate degree of Science in 2017-GPA (4.0)

Hesi test-will be taking it in August

Working full time with City Health department as an epidemiologist specialist since last five years. I am also a mom of two boys.

Got accepted to MUSC college of nursing program but declined it. Also got accepted to Johns Hopkins Entry into Masters of nursing program for Fall 2017 but had to deffer it to Fall 2018 due to financial circumstances.

Trying to apply for the in-state school due to affordable tuition as well as easy commute.

I really hope i can get into UT Health Science center pacesetter program as it's my first option as it's closest to me as well as it's affordable and one of the best programs in Texas.

Hi! I also plan on applying and extremely nervous too. I take the HESI a2 in a few weeks so fingers crossed I get the score I need!

My stats so far:

PreReq: 3.8

Science:4.0

Overall:3.6

No medical experience

Hello!

I am also working my way to Summer 2018! I am at UH right now finishing up Micro and Nutrition this Fall Semester. I am taking the HESI Sept 25, nervous to see how that goes!

Hello Everyone!

I am applying to Summer 2018. I will be taking the HESI in October (FINALL) :) I'm just a little worried that my GPA is not high enough!

Science GPA 3.3

Pre-Reqs GPA:3.2

I also hear that Summer is not as competitive like fall or spring. Hopefully That's the case .

Oh hi I am applying for summer 2018 too.nervous but excited at the same time. I heard summer is less computative than fall and spring, so hopefully they will accept me. Right now am doing anatomy and micro before I apply. I haven't decide when to take the hesi. If you guys already scheduled, please reply me what things do I need, how much I pay and everything I need to know. Thank you.

Hello! What are your current STATS? I'm currently in A&P 2. I will be taking the HESI next month on the 22nd. It should be around $100

Thanks,Yes I am taking A&P 2 & micro. I am not sure if I should take take hesi now or when I am almost done with the course. But I have to take history 2& government 2 in spring. It's scarring me because most applicants are done with the prerequisites even before applying.

How didn't it go? Hopefully you got the score you wanted

If you took the hesi how did it go?

I am also applying for Summer 2018 admission. I just took the HESI (first attempt) this morning. My A&P score wasn't as good as I hoped.

Reading Comprehension: 94%

Grammar: 96%

Vocabulary & Knowledge: 92%

A&P: 76%

Math: 98%

CUMULATIVE SCORE: 91.20%

Grades thus far:

Science GPA: 3.125 (this only includes Chem/Chem Lab from 17 years ago (C+/B) and A&P1 from this past summer (A).

Pre-Reqs GPA: 3.698

I'm currently taking A&P2 and Microbiology. Right now, I have A's in both classes. If I can hold onto them, then that will bring my science GPA to a 3.563. I still have to take both history classes plus Texas Government in the spring semester; those grades won't figure into my application. After I finish this semester, I will have taken a total of 175 credit hours. I have degrees in accounting and finance, so this represents a career change move for me.

I went to the one of their BSN info sessions and am confused about the "2 chances in a lifetime policy" for the HESI. I took the HESI 3 times about 2 years ago, and had applied/sent scores to UTHSC once. To me, that means I have one more chance to send my scores to be considered for admission. But they also mentioned they can see how many times you have taken the HESI ever, and think taking it more than twice is cheating. So I don't know if I should even bother to apply. Do y'all think I should email them and ask?

I have went to two info sessions, they said their 2 time thing is ONLY under their school code. I also heard that after 2 years your HESI score does not count anymore.
