UWorld percentile
I know this is an older thread, but thought I'd update for us Covid-19 testers. I took my ATI NCLEX prediction exams as part of my nursing program. In February of 2020 I got a 96% and then in April of 2020 I got a 98%. I graduated in May and took several weeks to recoup during quarantine. Then I buckled down with UWorld. My first UWorld predictor exam was 61% overall with a very high chance of passing. Then I did about 1600 of the Qbank over 4 days. Don't judge. My score stayed around the same... I ended up at 62.4%. I never took the 2nd UWorld assessment. I took my NCLEX on July 2, 2020 and it cut off at 60 questions. I got my results today and I passed. YAY! I'm an RN!

Same. I interviewed with MH Woodlands on Monday and haven't heard anything back. Since others on here got acceptances yesterday, I'm thinking that my rejection is coming soon. SMH. This is my second round. I was pretty much ghosted by St. Luke's in February (I think everybody was?) Children's didn't even want an interview, even though my GPA is great. I had a first interview at Methodist back in February and then heard nothing.... not a rejection even. And now I'm back to square 1.

What are your thoughts on night shift vs. day shift? I interviewed for MH TW yesterday. I thought the interview went very well until the panel asked if I preferred days or nights. I said that I preferred days, but was a team player and certainly willing to cover night shift occasionally if needed. The interview continued another few minutes until we were wrapping up. They asked if I had any more questions, and so I asked what specifically they wanted in a new graduate and what would set me apart. One of the panel members stated that they wanted flexibility. And then another panel member jumped in and said that flexibility and the ability to work nights was important right now. I stated that I understood and was certainly a team player. And that while days was my preference, I was prepared to work whatever shift asked of me during this health crisis. Then the panel member who had just highlighted the importance of flexibility and ability to work nights stated that there was a long list of current employees who were on nights who wanted to be on days.... so of course they would all be prioritized. So we wrapped things up and got off the interview and I cried for a hot sec. Am I delusional for thinking I can get a day job? I'm starting to think so. ? I know it's not their problem, but I have young kids at home. I guess I had thought that the night shift differential would mean that there were a few day slots available. I would totally be willing to take a pay cut to get the day shift. Not feeling very optimistic. ?

I don't think so? Because 1) I interviewed with a panel of 4 Med-Surg departments that were all hiring and my rejection stated that I was an alternate for a specific floor/unit. 2) I also had another MH interview for Mother/Baby and haven't heard back. It seems like if they told everyone that they were an alternate, then they wouldn't have specified the particular unit that I was an alternate for... but rather kept it open-ended. Also, if everyone was an alternate, then why wasn't I told that I was also an alternate for mother/baby? Just my thoughts. I suppose there could be several alternates per department. And who knows... with the way things are unfolding right now with COVID-19, that may actually be a smart move on their part. Lots of things are very fluid right now... some of us may have delayed graduations, some of us may choose to move closer to family, etc. Plus... if this shortage gets worse, I suppose it's possible that hospitals increase the number of new grads they hire.

Houston Nurse Residency Summer 2020
I did this morning, but at a different location. Some questions were: What made you decide to become a nurse? Tell us about a time you went above and beyond to create patient/customer satisfaction. Tell us about a challenging personality you've dealt with and how you handled it. What is your dream/ideal nursing job? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
