Hello Everyone,
I am preparing myself to apply for Summer 2018 pacesetter BSN program. We can use this forum for Summer 2018 applicants. I am in the process of taking Hesi exam. I have completed all my prerequisite courses needed for the program.
Little bit about me:
BS in Microbiology in 2005 -GPA (3.05)
MPH degree in Epidemiology in 2012-GPA (3.85)
Associate degree of Science in 2017-GPA (4.0)
Hesi test-will be taking it in August
Working full time with City Health department as an epidemiologist specialist since last five years. I am also a mom of two boys.
Got accepted to MUSC college of nursing program but declined it. Also got accepted to Johns Hopkins Entry into Masters of nursing program for Fall 2017 but had to deffer it to Fall 2018 due to financial circumstances.
Trying to apply for the in-state school due to affordable tuition as well as easy commute.
I really hope i can get into UT Health Science center pacesetter program as it's my first option as it's closest to me as well as it's affordable and one of the best programs in Texas.
So I just called the school and they said they are still sending out acceptances over the next few weeks. I just think thats a generic phrase now. I asked about my transcript evaluation because when I got it mailed to me a few weeks ago they didn't accept almost all my pre-reqs from my school in Michigan. When I called about it(a month ago), they fixed many of the classes but they had to look into stats and nutrition. I feel if I don't get accepted that is the reason. When I called today about it I was told to contact Joann Mendoza about it. So I am waiting for her call back.
I strongly feel like its for those who don't have their portals updated...those who are waitlisted I think will know at the very last minute (which sucks). My friend got waitlisted for Spring 2018 and she got notified that she was accepted into Summer 2018 this past Friday. My other friend who got waitlisted for Summer 2016 was notified that he got accepted into the Summer 2016 program like a couple weeks before that semester started. My ~guess~ is that they waitlisted those who could POSSIBLY be potential students they'd accept, but they're putting them aside. It seems as if they're still sifting through all the applicants bc numerous people still have yet to have their portal updated or any status changes!

@md1120 Of course!
overall GPA: 3.9
science GPA: 3.76
(I applied to both UTHealth and UTMB with 56 credit hours completed - 46 credit hours at UH, and 10 at Lone Star over the summer) I currently am taking Micro, A&P2, Biology, and Art History at Lone Star right now. The previous semester I was a UH. I actually highly recommend taking sciences at Lone Star or be really selective with your science professors. I did not have a strong chem professor at UH, and my friends didn't have great A&P or Micro professors to choose from at UH either. At Lone Star, there is better student to teacher ratio (1:25 vs 1:100) and I feel like having the same professor for lab as well helps a LOT. At UH the lab is usually separate. That's how I worked around to obtaining a high GPA!
